JNTUK and BTH Sweden Launch ‘5-Year Integrated Double Degree Master’s Programme’
The JNTUK double degree program, offered in successful collaboration with Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH) in Sweden for over 17 years, has been completely restructured for the 2026-2027 academic year to align with NEP-2020 guidelines. Welcoming its 16th batch of students, this streamlined five-year initiative offers a unique split-study model where students complete 3.5 years at JNTUK in India and 1.5 years at BTH in Sweden. Upon graduation, students are awarded three distinct qualifications—a B.Tech and an M.Tech from JNTUK, alongside an M.S. from BTH, a prestigious institution globally recognized and ranked 2nd in the world and 1st in the EU for software engineering research.
- Program Restructuring: The previous 6-year International Collaborative Program between JNTUK and BTH has been restructured into a Five Year Double Degree Masters Programme starting from the 2026-2027 academic year.
- NEP-2020 Alignment: This newly restructured 5-year program is specifically designed to align with the guidelines of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
- Long-standing Collaboration: The upcoming 2026-2027 admissions represent the 16th batch of this educational cooperation, marking over 17 years of successful collaboration between the two universities.
- Study Distribution: The 5-year duration is split between two countries, with students completing 3.5 years of study at JNTUK in Kakinada, India, and the remaining 1.5 years at BTH in Sweden.
- Degrees Awarded: Upon completion, students will earn a B.Tech and an M.Tech from JNTUK, as well as an M.S. from BTH, Sweden.
- Global Prestige of BTH: Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH) adds significant value to the program, as it is ranked 2nd in the world and 1st in the EU for research in software engineering.

2. Mode of Study
The duration of the program is exactly 5 years, divided into 10 semesters.
- Phase 1 (India): The first 3 ½ years (7 semesters) of mandatory education take place at the University College of Engineering Kakinada (UCEK), JNTUK.
- Phase 2 (Sweden): The remaining 1 ½ years (3 semesters) of mandatory education take place at BTH, Sweden.
Important Note: Students admitted to the program must study at both JNTUK and BTH. There is no provision to discontinue the Swedish transition in the middle of the program and claim to complete the entire education at JNTU Kakinada.
3. Tuition Fee Structure
Because education spans two countries, the tuition fees are paid in Indian Rupees (INR) for the first 3.5 years and Swedish Krona (SEK) for the final 1.5 years.

4. Eligibility & Language Policy
Eligibility
Candidates satisfying the entry requirements of AP EAPCET 2026 are eligible for admission to the International Double Degree Masters Program – 2026.
Language Policy
The medium of instruction is English at both universities. However, there is a specific requirement for students from non-English academic backgrounds:
- If a student studied their 10+2 (Intermediate) in the Telugu medium (or any medium other than English), they must prove English proficiency before transitioning to Sweden in the 4th year, 2nd semester.
- Required Test Scores:
- TOEFL: 575 / 90
- IELTS: An overall mark of 6.5 (with no single section falling below 5.5).
5. Visa Requirements and Financial Proof
Studying in Sweden requires specific financial planning and documentation to secure a student visa.
- Students must be capable of funding their own travel and living expenses during their stay in Sweden.
- A minimum financial requirement of SEK 10,656 (Swedish Kronas) per month must be shown for the entire planned study period.
- For the 18-month duration in Sweden, students need to prove they have at least SEK 191,808 (approximately INR 19.18 lakhs, based on the exchange rate of 1 SEK = 10 INR).
- This documentation certifying the student’s funds must be provided to the Swedish Migration Board when applying for a student residence permit.
- Neither BTH nor JNTUK can influence the Migration Board’s independent decisions, and they will not be held responsible for visa rejections resulting from insufficient financial statements.
6. Living Costs, Accommodation, and Insurance
Estimated Living Costs
