DAY WRAPS UP - BUT YOUR JOURNEY IS JUST BEGINNING
What a day it has been. From the nervous 9 AM countdown to the electric 5 PM result drop – today was historic for lakhs of families across India. Whether you got your dream seat, a seat you’re floating on, or you’re waiting for Round 3 – remember: every great engineer’s story has multiple chapters. Round 2 was just one page. The deadline to pay your fee and secure your seat is July 3, 5 PM. Don’t sleep on it. And don’t forget to check Manabadi tomorrow morning for Round 3 cutoff predictions and next steps!
WITHDRAWAL WINDOW OPENS TOMORROW - READ THIS CAREFULLY
For those who want to completely exit the process: Candidates wishing to withdraw from the seat allotment process can initiate the withdrawal request between July 1 (10 AM) and July 3 (5 PM). The last date to respond to withdrawal-related queries and other Round 2 verification queries is July 5, 2026, by 5 PM. Think very carefully before withdrawing – once you do, alternate options like CSAB counselling for NITs/IIITs/GFTIs remain, but IIT admissions would be closed. Consult a counsellor or a trusted mentor before making this call.
DIDN'T GET A SEAT? HERE'S WHY YOU SHOULD STILL HAVE HOPE
No allotment in Round 2? Don’t you dare close that browser in despair. JoSAA consists of Five rounds. Round 3 result is expected on July 6, Round 4 on July 10, and Round 5 on July 16, 2026. Three more major rounds remain. Every time a student freezes a seat, another vacancy opens. Every time someone upgrades, a lower-preference seat frees up for you. Stay registered. Stay in the game. The algorithm is still working in your favour. The story isn’t over.
EARLY TREND ANALYSIS: WHICH BRANCHES SAW THE MOST MOVEMENT
Based on early data flowing in, here’s what Round 2 appears to have unlocked: CS and AI branches at top NITs remained tight – as expected. ECE and Mechanical branches at mid-tier NITs saw notable rank relaxation. IIITs showed significant seat availability for branches like Information Technology and Electronics. GFTIs have many fresh allotments for students who had no Round 1 seat. Round 2 also processes candidates who did not get any seat in Round 1 – their choice lists are evaluated fresh against available seats. If you’re a first-time allottee – this seat is yours. Own it.
RESULTS ARE OUT! REACTIONS POURING IN - WHAT'S EVERYONE GETTING?
The portal is live and results are flowing! Students across India are logging in and discovering their allotments. Reports suggest the NIT cutoffs in Round 2 have shown movement of 500–2,000 ranks in several branches compared to Round 1 – exactly as expected! Students who floated are seeing upgrades. First-time allottees are in tears of joy. Remember: if you got your seat – celebrate, then ACT. Candidates allotted seats must complete online reporting including seat acceptance fee payment, document upload, and responding to verification queries before July 3, 2026, at 5 PM. Don’t let the celebration delay the action.
AND Round 2 RESULT IS EXPECTED LIVE RIGHT NOW!
THE MOMENT HAS ARRIVED. The JoSAA Round 2 Seat Allotment Result 2026 is being published RIGHT NOW. Whether it’s IIT, NIT, IIIT, IISc, or GFTI – your allotment is waiting on the other side of that login screen. Millions of hours of hard work, thousands of practice problems, hundreds of mock tests – they all led to THIS screen, THIS moment. Go check. Come back and celebrate. We’re rooting for every single one of you.

30 MINUTES! GET YOUR LOGIN READY RIGHT NOW
This is your final checklist before the big moment:
- JEE Main Application Number
- JoSAA Password
- josaa.nic.in – tab open and ready?
- Documents folder – organised?
- Payment mode – UPI/card ready?
- Parents informed and present?
- Heart rate – elevated but manageable? 😄
Students should keep their login credentials ready before the result announcement. Traffic on the portal usually increases significantly on allotment day. You’re ready. This is your moment.
ONE HOUR TO GO - THE ATMOSPHERE IS ELECTRIC!
T-minus 60 minutes! Parents are hovering. Coaching teachers are on standby. Group chats are flooding. Right now, JoSAA’s servers are processing millions of preference lists, ranks, category certificates, and seat matrices – running an algorithm so complex it would make your algorithms professor proud. Waiting for the JoSAA Round 2 result can feel like refreshing the page every five minutes. One moment brings confidence, while the next sparks overthinking. We feel you. Stay calm. Stay ready. The wait is almost over.
2 HOURS TO GO - STORIES THAT MAKE JOSAA WORTH IT
Every year, JoSAA Round 2 creates magic. Students who got no seat in Round 1 suddenly find themselves allotted to NIT Surathkal. Students who were stuck with a branch they didn’t want, find themselves upgraded to their first choice. JoSAA’s algorithm never downgrades you. If you selected Float after Round 1, Round 2 will either upgrade you to a higher-preference seat or keep your Round 1 seat unchanged. You cannot get a worse seat from Float. Re-read that. Let it sink in. Hope is not just a feeling today – it’s literally built into the algorithm.
IIT CUTOFFS FROM ROUND 1 - WHAT'S THE BASELINE?
For context: In Round 1, IIT Bombay CSE closed at around AIR 65, IIT Delhi at 123, and IIT Madras at 149 for the General category. These elite branches almost never move in Round 2. But IIT Dhanbad, IIT Patna, IIT Jodhpur, IIT Indore – these often see rank relaxation of 50–200 ranks in Round 2 as top rankers upgrade to better branches. If your rank is in the 2,000–8,000 range for JEE Advanced, keep your eyes peeled for IIT seats that may have just freed up. The chessboard is being reset.
2.5 HOURS TO GO - THE ANTICIPATION IS REA
Right now, somewhere in India, a student with AIR 847 is hoping CSE at IIT Roorkee opens. Somewhere else, a student with rank 23,000 is dreaming of ECE at NIT Calicut. A student from a small town who studied 14 hours a day is about to find out if it all paid off. That student might be YOU. Round 2 is not just a result – it’s a reckoning. The round 2 seat allotment will be out in few hours – and the clock is ticking. Stay with us. We’re right here with you.
- HOW MUCH DO YOU PAY? FEE STRUCTURE EXPLAINED
Seat acceptance fees are as follows: ₹35,000 for General/OBC candidates and ₹15,000 for SC/ST/PwD candidates. If upgraded via Float, your Round 1 seat is automatically released. You cannot keep both seats. Your paid acceptance fee transfers to the new allotment – you don’t pay again. So, Float students – don’t worry about double payment! The system is built to be fair. Keep UPI, Net Banking, or Credit Card ready for after 5 PM.
REPORTING DEADLINES YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO MISS
The result isn’t the finish line – it’s the starting. Once allotted, here’s what happens next: Candidates allotted seats can complete online reporting, including seat acceptance fee payment, document upload, and responding to verification queries, from June 30 to July 3, 2026 (up to 5 PM). The last date to pay the seat acceptance fee is July 3 by 5 PM, while fee payment-related issues will be resolved on July 4, 2026, until 5 PM. You have 3 days – but don’t wait 3 days. Act within hours of your allotment. Delays have cost students their dream seats before. Don’t be that story
LUNCH BREAK... BUT NOT FROM REFRESHING THE PAGE 😄
Halfway through the day and the excitement is building to a fever pitch! While you grab lunch, here’s something to chew on – JOSAA 2026 Official Opening & Closing Ranks are already out on the portal. Cross-check your rank against Round 1 closing ranks one more time and estimate your chances. Is CSE at NIT Trichy within reach? What about ECE at NIT Warangal? Use this hour to strategize, not panic. Round 2 is a door – make sure you know which room you want to walk into.
DOCUMENTS READY? DON'T GET CAUGHT SCRAMBLING AT 5 PM!
The result drops in just a few hours. Make sure these are scanned and ready RIGHT NOW:
JEE Main 2026 admit card/rank card, JEE Advanced 2026 rank card (for IIT aspirants), Class 10th certificate (for DOB proof), Class 12th marksheet and pass certificate, category certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS if applicable), PwD certificate (if applicable), passport size photographs (scanned), and signature in prescribed format. Don’t let a missing scan be the reason you miss your deadline. Prep now, celebrate later!
CUTOFF TRENDS: WHAT MOVED IN ROUND 1 & WHAT TO EXPECT NOW
Historically, Round 2 closing ranks show improvement across many institutes. Popular branches such as Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Electronics usually witness limited movement since those seats were mostly frozen by top rankers in Round 1. However, NITs and IIITs in Tier-2 cities often see significant rank relaxation. If your rank is in the 5,000–50,000 range for JEE Main, pay very close attention – this round could be your golden window into a top NIT branch. Eyes open
FREEZE, FLOAT OR SLIDE - QUICK MASTERCLASS BEFORE RESULTS!
When your result drops, you’ll need to respond FAST. Here’s your cheat sheet:
- FREEZE → You like your seat. Lock it. You’re done upgrading.
- FLOAT → Accept your seat BUT stay in the race for a better one in Round 3.
- SLIDE → Upgrade within the SAME institute to a better branch.
You can switch from Float to Freeze, but NOT from Freeze to Float. Choose wisely – this decision follows you into Round 3. The algorithm never punishes you for Floating. It only rewards.
- WHAT'S AT STAKE? A PEEK AT THE INSTITUTES IN PLAY
Today’s result covers seats across IITs, NITs, IIITs, IISc Bangalore, and GFTIs – over 135+ premier institutions across India. This result is for candidates aiming to secure B.Tech seats at IITs, NITs, IIITs, IISc Bangalore, and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). We’re talking about seats in institutions that produce Nobel laureates, startup unicorn founders, ISRO scientists, and global tech leaders. One result. Infinite possibilities. The portals are live.
KNOW YOUR ROUND 2: WHY THIS IS THE MOST EXCITING ROUND OF ALL
Here’s a secret most students don’t realise – Round 2 is typically the round where the MOST movement happens. Why – Because candidates who selected Float after Round 1 are re-evaluated against vacancies created by freezes and withdrawals, and many candidates who missed Round 1 allotment receive their very first seat in Round 2. So, whether you’re floating for an upgrade or waiting for your first allotment – Round 2 could literally change your life today. Sit tight.
THE COUNTDOWN BEGINS!
Today is THE day lakhs of JEE aspirants have been holding their breath for – JoSAA Round 2 Seat Allotment Result 2026 is officially scheduled to drop TODAY. After weeks of choice filling, mock allotments, frantic rank comparisons, and sleepless nights staring at opening/closing ranks – Round 2 is here to either hand you your dream seat or send you one giant leap closer to it. Missing this deadline = permanent disqualification from all remaining JoSAA rounds.
Quick recap of Freeze, Float, Slide
You’ll need to choose one after tomorrow’s result: Freeze = Accept seat, exit further rounds. Float = Keep seat, compete for better institute or branch. Slide = Keep seat, compete for better branch in the SAME institute. Choosing Float or Slide never puts your current seat at risk. When in doubt, always Float.
OBC-NCL and EWS candidates - critical alert
JoSAA requires your category certificate to be issued on or after April 1, 2026, in the Central Government format only. State government formats are rejected. If yours is outdated or in state format, get a new one urgently before the reporting deadline of July 3, 2026.
Here's what typically changes between Round 1 and Round 2
Candidates who withdrew or didn’t pay the Round 1 fee free up their seats. Historically, around 10–15% of seats shift in Round 2. Mechanical, Civil and Biotechnology branches at NITs see more movement. CSE, AI and ECE branches at top NITs and IITs show very little change. Plan your expectations accordingly.
Common doubt answered: "I didn't get a seat in Round 1. Am I still eligible for Round 2?"
YES. If you registered for JoSAA 2026 and completed choice filling, you are automatically in the pool for every round. You do NOT need to re-register or take any action. Simply check josaa.nic.in tomorrow at 5 PM.

What Changes in Round 2 vs Round 1? – Expected Cutoff Shifts
Round 2 cutoffs shift from Round 1 due to:
- Candidates who withdrew or did not pay the fee in Round 1
- Float and Slide movements freeing up seats
- Category-wise vacancy adjustments
Branches likely to see bigger rank movement (more seats available): Mechanical, Civil, Metallurgical, Biotechnology, Production Engineering
Branches with limited movement (very high demand): Computer Science (CSE), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science, Electronics & Communication (ECE)
What this means for you: If you missed CSE at your preferred NIT in Round 1, the cutoff for Round 2 may tighten further. But if you’re targeting Mechanical or Civil at top NITs, you may see improved chances.

COMMON DOUBTS IN JOSAA COUNSELLING 2026:
Choice Filling & Locking
Can I change choices after locking?
No. Once locked, choices cannot be modified. If you don’t lock them, your last saved choices will be auto-locked on the final day.
How many choices can I fill?
There is no limit. Fill as many eligible choices as possible in your preferred order.
Does filling more choices reduce my chances?
No. JoSAA checks your choices from top to bottom and allots the best available option based on your rank.
Freeze, Float & Slide
Freeze
Accept the seat and exit further counselling rounds.
Float
Accept the seat but remain eligible for a higher-preference institute/course in future rounds.
Slide
Accept the seat but seek a better course within the same institute.
Can I change Float/Slide to Freeze later?
Yes. But once you choose Freeze, you cannot switch back to Float or Slide.
Document Verification & Fees
Do I need to pay the Seat Acceptance Fee for Float/Slide?
Yes. Fee payment and document upload are mandatory to retain your seat.
What if my documents are rejected?
You must resolve the query before the deadline. Failure to do so may result in seat cancellation.
IIT vs NIT Verification
Why is separate verification required for IITs and NIT+ institutes?
IITs and NIT/IIIT/GFTIs follow different verification requirements. If your seat changes from NIT+ to IIT, fresh verification may be required.

If you skip this, you will be permanently removed from JoSAA (e.g., if you got a seat in round 2, but you want to go for round 3, you should still pay the Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF)and choose float or slide options), to upgrade your seat in the next round, you do not need to pay any fee again.
The Withdrawal Process of Josaa 2026
To successfully withdraw, you must complete these steps on the official JoSAA portal:
- Online Request: Log in and select the “Withdrawal” option during the specified window for that round.
- Upload Documents: You are usually required to upload a Withdrawal Form signed by both you and your parent/guardian.
- Response to Queries: If the verifying officer has any doubts about your withdrawal request, they will raise a query. You must respond to this query online, or your withdrawal will not be processed, and you will remain stuck with the seat.
Consequences of Withdrawing:
There is a subtle difference between these two terms in the portal:
- Out of JoSAA: Once you withdraw, you are out of the JoSAA process for the current year. You cannot re-enter in later rounds
- Eligibility for JEE Advanced Next Year: If you withdraw from a seat before the final round, you will still be eligible to attempt JEE Advanced again next year (provided you have an attempt left). However, if you do not withdraw the seat until the final round and are allotted a seat, then you are not eligible for JEE Advanced again, as the system assumes that the seat is occupied.
Withdrawal vs Exit:
- Withdrawal: You have been allotted a seat in a previous round and now want to give it up and exit the counselling.
- Exit: You have not been allotted any seat yet, but you want to stop participating in future rounds of JoSAA.
Fee Refunds and Deductions:
If you withdraw after paying the Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF), you are eligible for a refund, but it isn’t the full amount.
- Processing Fee: JoSAA typically deducts ₹7,000 as processing charges.
- Refund Amount: The remaining amount (e.g., ₹23000 if you paid ₹30,000) will be refunded to the bank account you provided during registration.
- Non-Refundable Scenarios: If you are allotted a seat in the final round, the SAF is generally non-refundable because that seat can no longer be offered to another candidate through JoSAA.
