What is JIPMAT Counselling 2026?
JIPMAT counselling refers to the post-result admission process through which shortlisted candidates are offered seats in the 5-Year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) at IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya. Unlike exams like JEE or NEET, there is NO centralized JIPMAT counselling portal. Each IIM releases its own merit list, cutoff, and admission offer independently.
The counselling process begins after the JIPMAT 2026 result is declared by NTA. Candidates must register their Expression of Interest (EoI) on the respective IIM portals to be considered for seat allotment.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) – JIPMAT Counselling 2026
Q1. When will JIPMAT 2026 counselling start?
A: The counselling process begins after IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya release their respective merit lists/confirmed lists. The JIPMAT 2026 result was declared on June 25, 2026. Based on the 2025 pattern (IIM Bodh Gaya result: July 9, 2025), counselling for 2026 is expected to commence in the second or third week of July 2026. Exact dates will be announced on iimj.ac.in and iimbg.ac.in.
Q2. Is there a common/centralized JIPMAT counselling?
A: NO. There is absolutely NO common counselling for JIPMAT. IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya conduct their admission processes completely independently. Candidates must register, submit documents, and pay fees on BOTH portals separately if they wish to be considered by both institutes.
Q3. Is there GD/PI/WAT in JIPMAT 2026 admission?
A: NO. JIPMAT admission does NOT include Group Discussion (GD), Personal Interview (PI), or Written Ability Test (WAT). Admission is purely merit-based: IIM Bodh Gaya uses 100% JIPMAT score; IIM Jammu uses 70% JIPMAT + 30% Class 10 & 12 academic performance, with a gender diversity component.
Q4. What is Expression of Interest (EoI) in JIPMAT counselling?
A: The Expression of Interest (EoI) is a mandatory registration step for IIM Bodh Gaya. After JIPMAT results are declared, candidates must log in to the IIM Bodh Gaya admission portal and register their EoI to indicate they want to be considered for IPM admission. Only EoI-registered candidates are included in the merit list. If you don’t register EoI, you will NOT receive an admission offer, even if your score is above the cutoff.
Q5. What is the difference in selection process between IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya?
A: IIM Jammu uses a composite merit score = 70% JIPMAT percentile + 30% academic marks (Class 10 + 12). It also gives 10% additional weightage to female candidates. IIM Bodh Gaya uses 100% JIPMAT score for merit list preparation (Class 10 & 12 only for eligibility). IIM Bodh Gaya also has a supernumerary seat system for female candidates (SNG seats).
Q6. Can I take admission in both IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya?
A: You can receive offers from both, but you can only join ONE programme. Once you pay the offer acceptance fee and register with one IIM, you should formally withdraw from the other. Note that once batch registration is complete, no refund is provided by either IIM.
Q7. What is the JIPMAT 2026 cutoff for General category?
A: The expected 2026 cutoff for General category (based on June 7 moderate difficulty exam) is 315-330+ marks for IIM Jammu and 305-320+ marks for IIM Bodh Gaya (out of 400). Official cutoffs will be released by each IIM separately after result declaration. In 2025, IIM Bodh Gaya’s first confirmed list General cutoff was 333+ marks.

Q9. Can I withdraw my admission and get a refund?
A: Yes, but within the specified withdrawal deadline. For IIM Jammu 2026, the withdrawal deadline is August 2, 2026 – candidates can withdraw and get a refund of the Rs. 50,000 offer acceptance fee minus Rs. 1,000 processing charges. For IIM Bodh Gaya, withdrawal before the specified date gets Rs. 60,000 minus Rs. 1,000 refund. No refund is provided after batch registration in either institute.
Q10. What is the IPM programme and what degree do I get?
A: IPM (Integrated Programme in Management) is a unique 5-year programme that combines undergraduate (BBA) and postgraduate (MBA) management education in a single track. After completing all 5 years, you receive a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) + Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the respective IIM. This means you do NOT need to separately appear for CAT or any MBA entrance exam to get an MBA from IIM Jammu or IIM Bodh Gaya.
Q11. How many candidates appear for JIPMAT and what is the competition ratio?
A: In JIPMAT 2025, approximately 12,939 candidates appeared for 260 seats, making the competition ratio about 50 candidates per seat. In 2026, similar or slightly higher competition is expected due to growing interest in early IIM entry. Compared to IPMAT (IIM Indore/Rohtak) which sees far higher competition, JIPMAT remains a more accessible route to an IIM for well-prepared students.
Q12. What if I am on the waitlist for JIPMAT admission?
A: IIM Bodh Gaya has a Type II (Waitlisted) EoI system. Waitlisted candidates should express interest when called upon and keep monitoring the IIM Bodh Gaya portal for movement. In 2025, IIM Bodh Gaya released 14 confirmed lists between July and September, so waitlisted candidates had multiple opportunities. IIM Jammu may also release additional merit lists. Keep your documents ready and monitor both portals and your registered email constantly.
Q13. Is there any merit/grace for Class 12 students who are awaiting results?
A: Yes. Candidates who are appearing in Class 12 in 2026 and are yet to receive their results can appear for JIPMAT 2026. However, they must produce their Class 12 passing certificate with the required minimum marks (60% for General, 55% for SC/ST/PwD) before the final admission offer can be released. The deadline to complete Class 12 is July 31, 2026 as per IIM Jammu’s 2026 policy.
Q14. What streams are eligible for JIPMAT 2026?
A: Students from ALL streams – Arts, Commerce, and Science – are eligible to apply for JIPMAT 2026. There is no specific stream restriction. The only requirement is minimum 60% marks in both Class 10 and Class 12 (55% for SC/ST/PwD).
