Candidates whose names appeared in the final MDS merit list were eligible subject to the conditions prescribed by KNRUHS.

Candidates who were allotted an MDS seat in Phase-I and joined the course were eligible to exercise Web Options for Phase-II.

However, candidates who were allotted a Phase-I seat but did not report or discontinued the course were not eligible to exercise Phase-II options. Candidates who did not exercise Web Options in Phase-I were also not eligible for Phase-II Web Options under the applicable rules.

MDS CQ Phase-II Allotment Released

KNRUHS has now released the college-wise allotment list for the Second Phase of MDS Counselling under Competent Authority Quota on September 30, 2026.

Candidates who have received a Phase-II allotment should check their allotment status through the official MDS counselling portal and complete the admission formalities within the deadline mentioned in their allotment order.

What Happens to the Phase-I Seat After Sliding?

KNRUHS has specifically stated that if a candidate is allotted an MDS seat in Phase-II according to the Web Options exercised, the Phase-I seat will be automatically cancelled and allotted to another eligible candidate.

Therefore, candidates were advised to exercise Web Options carefully and include only those specialities and colleges in which they are genuinely interested.

MDS CQ Phase-II Fee and Reporting

Candidates allotted a seat in Phase-II have to pay the ₹35,000 University Fee through the online payment gateway to download the allotment letter.

Candidates who had already paid the University Fee during Phase-I do not have to pay it again.

The tuition fee is payable at the respective dental college according to the fee notified by the Government of Telangana.

After downloading the allotment order, candidates must report to the Principal of the allotted dental college within the date specified in the allotment order and complete the admission formalities.

TG NEET MDS Counselling 2026 Under Management Quota

KNRUHS is also conducting MDS admissions under Management Quota for the academic year 2026-27.

The university released the final MQ merit list, Phase-I seat matrix and Web Options notification on September 26, 2026.

Candidates were permitted to exercise Web Options for the available MDS seats according to their eligibility and preference.

MDS MQ Phase-I Allotment Released

KNRUHS released the college-wise allotment list for the First Phase of MDS Management Quota counselling on September 29, 2026.

Candidates who participated in the MQ Phase-I Web Options should now check their allotment status and follow the reporting and fee-payment instructions applicable to the allotted seat.

TG NEET MDS 2026: Important Fee Update

KNRUHS issued a new MDS tuition-fee notice on September 21, 2026 for the 2026–29 block period. According to the notice, the fee structure for Private Unaided Non-Minority Dental Colleges and Army College of Dental Sciences, Secunderabad will remain the same as the fee structure notified for the previous 2023–26 block period.

Candidates should therefore check the official fee notification and the applicable fee for their allotted college before completing admission.

Important Instructions for Candidates

Candidates who have been allotted a seat must report within the deadline mentioned in their allotment order. KNRUHS has stated that failure to complete the admission process within the prescribed time can result in cancellation of the admission, and such candidates may also become ineligible for subsequent web-option rounds.

Candidates should also keep their original certificates, NEET-MDS documents and other admission-related documents ready for verification at the allotted college.

TG NEET MDS Counselling 2026 – Conducting Authority

The Telangana MDS state counselling is conducted by:

Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), Warangal, Telangana

The university conducts the state-level admission process for MDS seats under the Competent Authority Quota in affiliated dental colleges.

What Is TG NEET MDS Counselling 2026?

TG NEET MDS Counselling is the state counselling process through which eligible NEET MDS 2026 candidates can compete for MDS seats in Telangana under the applicable state quota.

For the Competent Authority Quota, KNRUHS prepares the Telangana State Merit Position using the candidate’s NEET MDS 2026 rank and applicable eligibility rules.

The registration process itself does not guarantee admission. Candidates must satisfy all eligibility conditions, appear in the applicable merit list, participate in web-option counselling and receive an allotment to secure admission.

TG NEET MDS 2026 Qualifying Cut-Off

Candidates must first qualify NEET MDS 2026 according to the applicable category-wise qualifying criteria.

For Telangana MDS admissions, KNRUHS has notified the following NEET MDS 2026 qualifying scores:

CategoryMinimum PercentileCut-off Score
General50th percentile308
General-PWD45th percentile289
SC/ST/OBC including PWD40th percentile271

Therefore, merely appearing for NEET MDS is not sufficient. Candidates must have secured the applicable qualifying score or above.

KNRUHS has specifically stated that admission will be considered only for candidates who have secured marks above the applicable NEET MDS 2026 cut-off and satisfy the state eligibility requirements.

Who Is Eligible for Telangana NEET MDS Counselling 2026?

Candidates must satisfy both NEET MDS eligibility requirements and Telangana state counselling eligibility requirements.

For Competent Authority Quota admission, the major conditions include:

  • The candidate must have qualified NEET MDS 2026.
  • The candidate must have secured the applicable category-wise qualifying score.
  • The candidate must possess a recognised BDS degree.
  • The BDS qualification must be from a recognised institution.
  • The candidate must have completed the required compulsory rotating internship.
  • The candidate must have completed internship on or before 31 May 2026.
  • The candidate must possess valid permanent dental registration with the applicable Dental Council.
  • The candidate must satisfy the Telangana local-area requirements wherever applicable.
  • Candidates already pursuing an MDS course are not permitted to register under the notified conditions.

KNRUHS has stated that BDS graduates seeking admission must have completed internship by 31 May 2026.

Who Is Considered a Local Candidate in Telangana MDS Counselling?

Local status is particularly important for Competent Authority Quota admissions.

According to the KNRUHS prospectus, the candidate should have studied in educational institutions in the relevant local area for not less than four consecutive academic years, ending with the academic year in which the candidate appeared or first appeared for the relevant qualifying examination, as applicable under the notified rules.

For this counselling process, the local area is Telangana.

Candidates should therefore carefully verify their study certificates and local-status eligibility before applying.

KNRUHS also specifically notes that candidates admitted to BDS at Government Dental College, Hyderabad under AU/SVU quota shall not be considered local candidates under the applicable government order.

TG NEET MDS 2026 Reservation

KNRUHS has specified category reservations for MDS admissions under the applicable Telangana government rules.

The prospectus provides the following vertical reservations:

  • SC – 15%
  • ST – 10%
  • BC – 29%

The BC reservation is further divided among the applicable BC groups.

The prospectus also provides 5% horizontal reservation for Persons with Disabilities (PWD).

PWD reservation is implemented within the applicable categories and is subject to the applicable regulatory requirements.

Candidates claiming SC, ST or BC reservation must submit the required valid certificate issued by the competent authority of the Government of Telangana.

Candidates claiming PWD reservation must undergo assessment by the medical board constituted by the university, wherever required. The university has stated that the Medical Board’s decision regarding disability eligibility is final and binding.

TG NEET MDS 2026 Competent Authority Quota Seats

The exact 2026–27 MDS seat matrix had not been notified by KNRUHS as of 10 September 2026.

The university prospectus states that the number of seats under Competent Authority Quota will be determined according to the orders of the National Dental Commission (NDC), Government of India, Government of Telangana and KNRUHS.

The official seat matrix will be displayed on the KNRUHS website before web options are opened.

If new MDS seats are permitted by the National Dental Commission or Government of India for affiliated colleges during the admission process, those seats may also be included as per the applicable rules.

Therefore, students should not rely on unofficial seat numbers circulating on social media or coaching websites until the official 2026–27 KNRUHS seat matrix is released.

TG NEET MDS Competent Authority Quota vs Management Quota

Students should understand that Competent Authority Quota and Management Quota are different admission channels.

Under the Competent Authority Quota, the Telangana state merit process is conducted by KNRUHS according to the applicable state government rules and reservation provisions.

Management Quota admissions are conducted separately under the applicable regulations and notifications.

The KNRUHS notification page separately lists MDS admission processes under different quotas. Students should therefore apply through the correct counselling process and should not assume that registration under one quota automatically registers them for another quota.

TG NEET MDS 2026 Registration Process

The registration process for the Competent Authority Quota was conducted through the designated Telangana MDS counselling portal.

The application window was:

19 August 2026, 6:00 AM to 25 August 2026, 6:00 PM.

Candidates were required to enter their details, pay the applicable registration and processing fee and upload scanned copies of the required certificates.

KNRUHS advised candidates to preferably use a desktop or laptop/computer for registration.

The university also stated that registration and certificate uploading is completed once for the counselling process and that candidates do not have to separately register every time they exercise web options.

TG NEET MDS 2026 Registration Fee

For the Competent Authority Quota registration:

Candidate CategoryRegistration & Processing Fee
OC/BC₹7,000
SC/ST₹5,500

Bank transaction charges are additional.

The fee is payable online through debit card, credit card or net banking.

KNRUHS has clearly stated that the registration and processing fee is non-refundable and cannot be adjusted to a future date.

Documents Required for TG NEET MDS Counselling 2026

Candidates should keep the following documents ready:

  1. NEET MDS 2026 admit card.
  2. NEET MDS 2026 rank card/score card.
  3. BDS degree certificate.
  4. BDS study certificates.
  5. BDS transcript/memorandum of marks.
  6. Compulsory rotating internship completion certificate.
  7. Permanent Dental Council registration certificate.
  8. SSC certificate/memo.
  9. Intermediate certificate/memo.
  10. Required study certificates from Class 6 to Intermediate.
  11. Transfer Certificate.
  12. Latest permanent caste certificate, if applicable.
  13. Service certificate for eligible in-service candidates.
  14. Aadhaar/photo identity proof.
  15. Recent passport-size photograph.
  16. Candidate’s signature.
  17. Any other certificate specifically required under the applicable category or counselling notification.

KNRUHS prescribed file formats and size requirements for uploading certificates during registration. Candidates should follow the instructions displayed on the counselling portal at the time of application.

What Happens After Registration?

After registration closes, KNRUHS scrutinises the information and certificates uploaded by candidates.

The university verifies matters including:

  • Educational qualification
  • BDS qualification
  • Dental registration
  • Internship completion
  • Local status
  • Category status
  • Service status, wherever applicable
  • NEET MDS qualification

After scrutiny, KNRUHS publishes the merit list.

Importantly, being included in the merit list does not by itself guarantee admission.

KNRUHS has specifically stated that the merit position does not mean that the candidate’s candidature has been finally accepted or that all information provided in the application has been accepted as correct.

TG NEET MDS Provisional Merit List 2026

KNRUHS released the provisional MDS merit list under Competent Authority Quota on 7 September 2026.

A separate list of ineligible candidates was also published.

Candidates should carefully check:

  • Name
  • NEET MDS rank
  • NEET MDS details
  • Category
  • Local status
  • Service status, if applicable
  • Other personal and eligibility details

If there is an error, candidates should follow the objection procedure prescribed by KNRUHS.

What Is the Difference Between Provisional and Final Merit List?

The provisional merit list is not the final admission list.

The provisional list is released after the initial scrutiny process and gives candidates an opportunity to identify discrepancies.

After considering valid objections and completing verification, KNRUHS will publish the final merit list.

Only after the final merit position and applicable seat matrix are available can candidates proceed to the next stage of web-option counselling.

What Should Students Do If Their Name Is Missing From the Merit List?

If an eligible candidate does not find their name in the provisional merit list, the candidate should first check the separate ineligible candidates list.

The candidate should then carefully examine the reason for ineligibility, if provided, and follow the objection/representation procedure announced by KNRUHS.

Candidates should not simply wait for the final merit list if they believe their application has been incorrectly rejected.

Any representation should be supported by appropriate documentary evidence.

TG NEET MDS 2026 Web Options

The web-options/choice-filling schedule has not yet been officially notified by KNRUHS as of 10 September 2026.

Once the final merit list and seat matrix are published, KNRUHS is expected to issue a separate notification explaining the web-options process.

Candidates will generally have to:

  1. Log in to the official counselling portal.
  2. View the available colleges and MDS specialties.
  3. Select preferred colleges/courses.
  4. Arrange choices in order of preference.
  5. Save and submit the choices.
  6. Lock/confirm choices if required.
  7. Keep proof of submitted choices.

The exact procedure, dates and choice-locking rules will be governed by the official 2026 notification.

How Should Students Fill MDS Web Options?

Choice filling is one of the most important parts of counselling.

Students should not prepare choices solely on the basis of previous-year closing ranks.

A candidate should consider:

  • NEET MDS rank
  • Category
  • State merit position
  • College
  • MDS speciality
  • Tuition fee
  • Other institutional charges
  • Clinical exposure
  • Patient load
  • Faculty
  • Infrastructure
  • Location
  • Hostel availability
  • Stipend, if applicable
  • Bond/service conditions, if applicable
  • Personal financial capacity

Candidates should list all colleges and specialties they would genuinely accept, in their true order of preference.

Do not place a college or specialty above another merely because someone on social media says it has a better chance.

Can Students Modify Their Choices?

Choice modification, editing, locking and re-locking rules depend on the particular counselling round and the instructions issued by KNRUHS.

Candidates should therefore read the official web-options notification carefully before submitting choices.

Once choices are finally locked or the choice-filling window closes, changes may not be possible.

TG NEET MDS 2026 Seat Allotment

After web options close, KNRUHS will process the choices according to the applicable:

  • State merit position
  • Category
  • Reservation rules
  • Seat availability
  • Candidate choices
  • Government orders
  • Applicable admission regulations

The university will then release the college-wise MDS seat allotment result.

Candidates who receive an allotment will have to download the allotment order and report to the allotted college within the prescribed deadline.

What Happens After MDS Seat Allotment?

A candidate who receives an MDS seat should immediately:

  1. Download the allotment order.
  2. Check the allotted college and speciality.
  3. Check the reporting deadline.
  4. Check the fee instructions.
  5. Arrange the required original certificates.
  6. Report physically to the allotted college.
  7. Complete document verification.
  8. Pay the prescribed admission/tuition fee.
  9. Complete all joining formalities.
  10. Obtain confirmation of admission from the college.

Failure to report within the prescribed period can result in cancellation of the allotment.

Documents Required at the Time of Joining

Candidates should carry:

  • Original BDS degree certificate.
  • Original BDS marks/transcripts.
  • Internship completion certificate.
  • Permanent Dental Council registration.
  • NEET MDS admit card.
  • NEET MDS score/rank card.
  • SSC certificate.
  • Intermediate certificate.
  • Study certificates.
  • Transfer Certificate.
  • Caste certificate, if applicable.
  • Service certificate, if applicable.
  • Aadhaar/valid photo ID.
  • Passport-size photographs.
  • Printed online application form.
  • Provisional allotment order.
  • Any other documents specified by KNRUHS or the allotted college.

KNRUHS specifically requires the printout of the online application and original certificates, along with a set of self-attested copies, at the time of final verification at the allotted college.

What If There Is a Discrepancy in Original Documents?

Students should be extremely careful because provisional allotment does not override eligibility requirements.

If the information submitted online does not match the original certificates, KNRUHS can cancel the provisional allotment.

The university has explicitly warned that incorrect information or discrepancies can lead to cancellation of candidature/admission and further action as applicable.

MDS Tuition Fee in Telangana 2026

The exact tuition fee for the 2026–27 academic year had not been finally notified in the original KNRUHS MDS admission notification.

KNRUHS stated that the tuition fee would be according to the orders issued by the Government of Telangana.

Therefore, students should not treat unofficial college fee figures as the confirmed 2026–27 tuition fee.

The university has separately issued a notification concerning the university fee applicable to MBBS, BDS and PG MDS admissions for the academic year 2026–27.

Students should check the latest KNRUHS fee notification and the allotment/joining instructions before making payment.

Can Candidates Get a Refund If They Do Not Join?

Candidates should not assume that every fee paid during counselling is refundable.

The registration and processing fee is specifically non-refundable according to the KNRUHS notification.

Rules relating to tuition fee refunds, free exit, discontinuation and surrender of seats depend on the relevant counselling stage and official notification.

Students should read the specific round’s instructions before accepting or surrendering a seat.

TG NEET MDS Counselling 2026 Counselling Rounds

The complete counselling process can include multiple stages depending on seat vacancies and the directions applicable for the year.

Students should watch for notifications relating to:

  • First Phase Counselling
  • Second Phase Counselling
  • Mop-Up Phase
  • Stray Vacancy Phase
  • Additional/Stray Vacancy counselling, if announced

The exact number and schedule of rounds for 2026–27 will depend on KNRUHS, NDC/MCC regulations, available vacancies and government directions.

Previous KNRUHS MDS counselling cycles have included multiple phases, including mop-up and stray-vacancy counselling, so candidates should not assume that the first phase is the only opportunity.

What Is Mop-Up Counselling?

Mop-up counselling is conducted to fill seats remaining vacant after the earlier counselling phases.

Candidates must follow the eligibility and participation conditions specified in the particular mop-up notification.

Students should not assume that rules from the first phase automatically apply to mop-up counselling.

What Is Stray Vacancy Counselling?

Stray vacancy counselling is used to fill seats that remain vacant after the regular counselling process, subject to the applicable regulations.

The rules can be stricter than earlier rounds.

Students should carefully check:

  • Who is eligible
  • Whether already allotted candidates can participate
  • Whether joined candidates can participate
  • Choice-filling requirements
  • Fee/payment rules
  • Reporting deadline
  • Exit/surrender rules

The final rules will be available only when KNRUHS issues the relevant 2026–27 notification.

Service Candidate Weightage in Telangana NEET MDS Counselling

Special provisions apply to eligible regular in-service candidates.

According to the KNRUHS prospectus:

Tribal-area service: Candidates with at least 2 years of continuous regular service may receive an additional weightage of 10% per year, subject to a maximum of 30%.

Rural-area service: Candidates with at least 3 years of continuous regular service may receive an additional weightage of 8% per year, subject to a maximum of 24%.

Temporary, contract and outsourcing candidates are not eligible for this particular service weightage provision.

The relevant service has to satisfy the applicable government rules and be calculated as prescribed by KNRUHS.

Does NEET MDS Rank Decide the Telangana MDS Merit Position?

Yes, the Telangana Competent Authority Quota notification states that the state merit position is prepared using the candidate’s NEET MDS 2026 rank, along with the applicable eligibility criteria and state rules.

However, candidates should understand that NEET MDS rank alone does not guarantee a seat.

The final outcome also depends on:

  • Category
  • State eligibility
  • Reservation
  • State merit position
  • Available seats
  • Specialty
  • College choices
  • Seat vacancies

Is Qualifying NEET MDS Enough for Admission?

No.

Qualifying NEET MDS only makes a candidate eligible to participate, provided all other Telangana eligibility conditions are fulfilled.

A candidate must also:

  • Register with KNRUHS within the prescribed period.
  • Upload the required certificates.
  • Pass document scrutiny.
  • Appear in the eligible/final merit list.
  • Participate in web options.
  • Obtain a seat.
  • Complete admission and reporting formalities.

Can a Candidate Who Did Not Register Earlier Participate Later?

Candidates should not assume that they can enter every counselling round without registration.

Whether fresh registration is permitted in a later round depends on the notification issued for that particular phase.

Therefore, students who missed the original registration window should continuously check KNRUHS notifications for any fresh registration, reopened registration or revised cut-off notification.

Can a Candidate Studying MDS Apply Again?

The KNRUHS prospectus specifically states that candidates who are already studying an MDS course shall not be permitted for registration under the notified Competent Authority Quota process.

Candidates must therefore carefully check the applicable rules before applying.

TG NEET MDS Counselling 2026 – Most Important Things Students Should Not Miss

Students should remember these points:

1. Qualifying NEET MDS is only the first step.

2. Telangana state eligibility is equally important.

3. Local status can affect Competent Authority Quota eligibility.

4. Internship must have been completed by 31 May 2026 as prescribed in the notification.

5. Dental registration must be valid.

6. Category certificates must satisfy Telangana requirements.

7. Registration fee is non-refundable.

8. Provisional merit list is not the final merit list.

9. Merit-list inclusion does not guarantee admission.

10. Seat matrix should be checked only from the official KNRUHS notification.

11. Web options must be filled carefully.

12. Candidates should never choose a college they cannot afford or do not wish to join merely because they think it will improve their chances.

13. Reporting deadlines must be followed strictly.

14. Original certificates are required at admission.

15. Candidates should keep checking KNRUHS notifications until the entire counselling process is completed.
