1) India’s Thakur Anoop Singh won gold medal in World Bodybuilding and Physique Championships.

  • India’s Thakur Anoop Singh won gold medal in the 7th WBPF World Bodybuilding and Physique Championships. He won the medal in the fitness physique category. The championships were held in Bangkok, Thailand.
  • Overall, India won 11 medals in the championships that saw participation from 47 nations.
  • Along with him, Arambam Boby (Manipur) also won gold in the championship and Thingbaijam Sarita, who had won a silver medal in Asian Bodybuilding Championships 2015 also bagged a bronze medal in the event.

 

2) Ethiopian Birhanu Legese, Kenyan Cynthia Limo won Delhi Half Marathon.

  • In the men’s category, Legese claims the first spot while Mosinet Geremew claimed the second spot and World record holder in half marathon Eritrea`s Zersenay Tadese finished third.
  • In the women`s category, Cynthia won the race, World Championships marathon silver medallist Helah Kiprop who was back with fraction of a second won the silver title and Gladys Chesir claimed the third spot.
  • Among the Indian runners Nitendra Singh Rawat and Lalita Babar topped in the men`s and women`s category.

 

3) Robert Lewandowski awarded with four Guinness World Record certificates for scoring five goals in nine minutes.

  • Guinness World Records recognized Polish professional footballer Robert Lewandowski’s nine-minute, five-goal haul for German Football Club Bayern Munich against Wolfsburg.
  • Lewandowski was presented with four separate official Guinness World Records certificates for his goal scoring spree.
  • He broke a series of records including Fastest Bundesliga hat-trick, Fastest Four Goals in a Bundesliga Match, Fastest Five Goals Scored in a Bundesliga Match, Most Goals Scored by a Substitute in a Bundesliga Match.
 

4) FIFA World Rankings announced; Belgium topped the list.

  • The November edition of the FIFA/ Coca-Cola World Rankings was released.
  • In the final rankings of 2015, while Belgium topped the list, Argentina Placed at Second followed by Spain at third.
  • Indian team jumped six places to reach the 166th spot. India was at the 172nd position due to five consecutive defeats in 2018 World Cup qualifiers in October edition of FIFA rankings.
  • But, Indian team could improve its ranking with victory against Guam in their last World Cup qualifier.

 

5) Russia, WADA agreed on roadmap to reform Russian Anti-Doping Agency.

  • The announcement was made three days after Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko met with WADA Director General David Howman in Frankfurt, Germany for talks on how to revamp Russian anti-doping agency (RUSADA).
  • The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) suspended Russia following a report published by a WADA independent commission.
  • The report highlighted deficiencies and concerns with Russia’s anti-doping program relating to athletics.
  • WADA`s report accused Russia anti-doping agency RUSADA of routinely violating international testing standards and allowing athletes banned for doping to compete.
 

6) Saina Nehwal nominated for BWF Woman Player of the Year Award.

  • Ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal has been nominated for the Woman Player of the Year Award of the Badminton World Federation after a consistent season which saw her occupy the world number one spot for a brief period.
  • Saina is currently ranked number two, will vie for the coveted honour along with world number one Carolina Marin of Spain, 2014 winner Zhao Yunlei of China and another Chinese Bao Yixin.
  • The winners of the BWF Players of the Year Awards will be announced at the Players’ Reception and Gala Dinner for the Dubai World Superseries Finals on December 7 at Al Badia Golf Club in Dubai.
  • In the Male Player of the Year category, world number one Chen Long of China, who won the title last season has been nominated alongside his doubles-playing compatriot, Zhang Nan, and Korea’s exciting duo of Lee Yong Dae and Yoo Yeon Seong.

 

7) Australia defeated Belgium to win Hockey World League Final.

  • The final was held at Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Stadium, Raipur.
  • India defeated defending champions Netherlands in the penalty shoot-out, and clinched the bronze medal in the tournament.
  • About 2014–15 Men`s FIH Hockey World League:
  • The 2014–15 Men`s International Hockey Federation (FIH) Hockey World League was the second edition of the FIH Hockey World League field hockey championship for men. It took place in India.
  • A total of 8 teams competed for Hockey World League Final. The teams were India, Germany, Argentina, Netherlands, Canada, Australia, Belgium and Great Britain.
  • The Semifinals of the competition also served as a qualifier for the 2016 Summer Olympics.
  • Each national association member of the FIH had the opportunity to compete in the tournament. After seeking entries to participate, 56 teams were announced to compete.

 

8) Maharashtra won Wheelchair Basketball Championship by defeating Punjab.

  • The competition opened on the eve of the International Day of People with Disabilities.
  • The second edition of the Wheelchair Basketball Championship was organised by the International Committee of the Red Cross, Wheelchair Basketball Federation of India and the Sports Authority of India.
  • Nine states took part in the competition. The states are Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Delhi, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

9) Chen Long and Carolina Marin bagged 2015 BWF Player of the Year Awards.

  • China’s Chen Long and all England and World champion Carolina Marin bagged the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Male and Female Player of the Year Awards respectively in Dubai.
  • Long retained the Male Player of the Year award that he won last year.
  • China’s rising star and World Junior Champion in Mixed Doubles and Men’s Doubles Zheng Si Wei grabbed the Eddy Choong Award for Most Promising Player of the Year.
  • BWF, for the first time, honoured para-badminton players with the year-end awards. Lee Sam Seop of Korea was named Male Para-Badminton Player of the Year. Helle Sofie Sagoy was awarded with the Female Para-Badminton Player of the Year.
