1) Former CBI chief resigns as UPSC Member.

  • Former Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director A.P. Singh has resigned as Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Member.
  • The IT Department also came across a series of BBM messages exchanged between Mr. Singh and Mr. Qureshi that raised suspicion about the nature of their association.
2) Union Minister gets 1-year jail term.
 
  • Union minister of state for minority welfare and parliamentary affairs Muqtar Abbas Naqvi to one year in jail for breaching prohibitory orders during campaigning for the 2009 Lok Sabha polls.
  • The court of additional civil judge (senior division) Manish Kumar sentenced Naqvi, along with his 19 supporters, and imposed a fine of Rs. 4,000 under sections 143 (rioting), 341 and 342 (wrongful restraint) of the IPC.
3) Indian American Toddler Vihaan Chamala Sets World Record.
 
  • Vihaan Chamala, an Indian American kid from New York, is adept in identifying all 196 countries plus some dependencies and territories on the world map (a total of 202), in a mere four minutes and forty-two seconds… and he is only 3 years old.
  • Judges from Record Setter Organization were so impressed with his performance that they honored the little toddler with a world record, and he is about to secure a world record with other world record organizations like Asia Book of Records, India Book of Records, Miracle World Records.
  • Vihaan actually set the record when he was just two-and-a-half.
 

4) Censor Board Chairman Leela Samson resigns to her Post.

  • Ms. Samson, who headed the statutory body under the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, resigned.
  • Leela Samson quit after an appeals board approved the film Messenger of God, directed by and starring guru Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.
  • The Ms Samson-led Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had found the film unsuitable for the public, reportedly because it promoted superstition.
  • Organizations opposed to Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh have held protests in Punjab and Haryana following reports that the film had been cleared for release.
  • Ms. Samson took over in August after the board`s former chief was arrested on charges of corruption.
 
 

5) Prime Minister of Bhutan Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay visited India.

  • Prime Minister of Bhutan Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay visited India. He visited along with his spouse Aum Tashi Doma, Foreign Minister Rinzin Dorji and Economic Affairs Minister Norbu Wangchuk.
  • As a part of his visit, he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and held wide-ranging discussions on bilateral relations as well as on regional and international issues of mutual interest and concern.
  • Both the leaders agreed that cooperation in the field of hydropower was mutually beneficial and a win-win situation for both countries.
6) Former Thailand Premier Yingluck Shinawatra impeached.
 
  • Former Thailand Premier Yingluck Shinawatra was impeached by an army-backed parliament. The impeachment was followed by the ban of the Yingluck Shinawatra from politics for five years.
  • Yingluck is the first Prime Minister to be impeached by parliament in Thailand’s history.
  • The motion for impeachment was started in National Legislative Assembly. 190 of the 219 members present for the secret ballot voted in favor of impeaching Yingluck Shinawatra.
