PHASE-2

1. Automated Seat Allocation
The WBJEE software scans all remaining vacant seats caused by Round 1 non-reporting, seat rejections, or withdrawals. It runs a fresh allocation cycle based strictly on your Phase 1 rank and choice sequence.

2. The Three Entry Scenarios

Your required actions in Phase 2 depend entirely on your status at the end of Phase 1:

  • Scenario A: Upgraded Candidates
    • Who they are: Candidates who got a seat in Round 1, paid ₹5,000, and chose “YES Upgradation”.
    • What happens: The system shifts them to a higher-preferred college on their web options list. Their Round 1 seat is automatically cancelled and given to someone else.
  • Scenario B: Unchanged Candidates
    • Who they are: Candidates who chose “YES Upgradation” but did not have enough rank to qualify for a higher option.
    • What happens: They retain their original Round 1 seat safely.
  • Scenario C: Fresh Allottees
    • Who they are: Candidates who registered in Phase 1 but received no seat allocation in Round 1.
    • What happens: They receive a seat allocation for the very first time.

3. Seat Acceptance Fee (For Fresh Allottees Only)

  • If you are a Fresh Allottee (Scenario C), you must pay the ₹5,000 seat acceptance fee online to download your allotment letter.
  • If you already paid this fee in Round 1 (Scenarios A & B), you do not pay anything extra.

4. Physical Reporting & Document Verification

  • For Fresh Allottees: You must visit your newly allotted college with all original documents for verification.
  • For Upgraded Candidates: You must report to the newly allotted college campus with your original Phase 1 verification slip to update your admission status.
  • For Unchanged Candidates: You do not need to report physically again if you are satisfied, but you must complete your final admission steps online or offline at that campus.

5. Final Settlement & Exit Window

Phase 2 concludes the main counselling rounds. You must take one of two final actions:

  • Freeze and Admit: Complete final admission paperwork and pay the institutional tuition fees at your final college.
  • Online Withdrawal: If you are unhappy with your final seat and want to exit WBJEE counselling with a refund of your ₹5,000 acceptance fee, you must use the online portal withdrawal link during this specific Phase 2 window.

Rules Governing Web Options in Phase 2

  • No Choice Modifications: You cannot add new colleges, delete options, or reshuffle your preferences. The portal choice-locking screen is completely disabled.
  • The Upward-Only Rule: The system only checks options ranked above your Round 1 allotment. For example, if you were allotted Choice #15 in Round 1, Phase 2 will only evaluate choices
  • Irreversible Deletion: If you are upgraded to a higher choice your old seat is instantly deleted and cannot be reclaimed under any circumstances.

If you want to know your chances of an upgrade, tell me your WBJEE rank and the college/branch you secured in Round 1. I can help you evaluate if you are likely to clear the cutoff for your higher choices.

Phase-3

1. Vacancy Seat Matrix Analysis
Before registering, the board publishes a detailed institutional seat matrix showing exactly how many seats are left vacant in each college and engineering branch. You should review this data to target branches with open slots.

2. Registration & Mop-Up Fee Payment

  • Eligibility Check: Participation is open to candidates who were registered in Phase 1 (whether they got a seat or not) as well as brand-new candidates who missed Phase 1 registration.
  • Participation Fee: You must pay a non-refundable Mop-Up entry fee online.
    • Previously registered candidates: ₹200
    • Unregistered fresh candidates: ₹1,000

3. Fresh Web Options (Choice Filling)

  • The Clean Slate Rule: Your choice list from Phase 1 and Phase 2 is completely deleted. The portal opens a blank grid.
  • Adding Choices: You must select and manually re-add every college and branch you are interested in. Even if you want to keep your Phase 2 seat as an option, you must re-add it to this new list.
  • Strategic Sequence: Order your choices from highest preference to lowest preference, just like in Phase 1.

4. Choice Locking

  • You must preview, confirm, and lock your new choice sequence before the final deadline. Unlocked choices will automatically lock when the portal closes.

5. Final Seat Allotment

The algorithm processes the fresh choices alongside the remaining vacancies to generate the final allocation list.

6. Verification & Final Admission

  • Fresh Allottees: Candidates getting a seat for the first time must pay the ₹5,000 seat acceptance fee online and complete physical verification.
  • Previously Allotted Candidates: If you already paid the ₹5,000 fee in an earlier round, you do not pay it again.
  • Physical Reporting: You must report to your final allotted institute to complete your admission paperwork and pay the college tuition fees.

High-Stake Rules Governing Web Options in Phase 3

  • Instant Forfeiture: If you are allocated a new seat in Phase 3, your old Phase 1 or Phase 2 seat is automatically and instantly cancelled by the system. It is immediately given to another student, and you can never claim it back.
  • Safety Option Entry: If you already hold a seat from Phase 2 but want to try for a better one in the Mop-Up round, always list your current seat at the very bottom of your new web options list. If you do not get any of your higher choices, the system will keep you in your current seat. If you completely omit your current seat from the list, you risk losing it entirely.
  • No Further Rounds: There are no upgrade options or structural modifications after this round. The choice you receive here is your final placement for WBJEE 2026.

If you are trying to decide whether to enter the Final round, tell me your rank and the college seat you currently hold from Phase 2. I can tell you if risking your current seat is a smart move based on historic vacancy trends.
