TG ECET 2026 Eligibility Criteria and Documents Required: Complete Detailed Guide

The Telangana Engineering Common Entrance Test (TG ECET 2026) – also referred to as TG ECET – was conducted by Osmania University, Hyderabad, on behalf of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE). The exam serves as the sole gateway for Diploma holders in Engineering/Technology/Pharmacy and B.Sc. (Mathematics) degree holders to secure lateral entry admission directly into the second year of B.E./B.Tech and B.Pharmacy programmes at university and private un-aided professional institutions across Telangana. With TG ECET 2026 counselling now actively underway, this guide, brought to you by Manabadi – your trusted source for accurate and timely exam updates – lays out the complete, verified eligibility criteria and document checklist that candidates need at this stage.

TG ECET 2026 – Where Things Currently Stand

Before getting into the eligibility and document details, here is the confirmed status of the exam cycle so far:

  • Notification released: February 5, 2026
  • Application process started: February 9, 2026 (last date without late fee: April 18, 2026; with late fee up to ₹10,000: extended till May 12, 2026)

  • Preliminary answer key: Released May 18, 2026
  • Result/Rank Card released: May 29, 2026, at 3:30 PM
  • Phase 1 Counselling registration: June 15 to June 18, 2026
  • Phase 1 Certificate verification and web option entry: June 17 to June 21, 2026
  • Phase 1 Seat allotment result: Released June 24, 2026
  • Phase 1 Tuition fee payment and self-reporting: June 24 to June 27, 2026
  • Final Phase (Phase 2) registration and certificate verification: Started July 4, 2026 – currently ongoing
  • Final Phase seat allotment: Expected on or before July 9, 2026

Since Final Phase counselling has already begun, candidates who missed Phase 1, did not receive a seat, or wish to try for a better college/branch should complete registration, fee payment, and slot booking on the official portal, tgecet.nic.in, at the earliest, as every stage in this phase is strictly time-bound.

TG ECET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

1. Nationality and Domicile

Candidates must be Indian nationals and must belong to Telangana or Andhra Pradesh, satisfying the local/non-local status requirements laid down in the official notification.

2. Academic Qualification

TG ECET eligibility is built around two qualification streams:

  • Diploma holders: A Diploma in Engineering and Technology or Pharmacy from a recognized Telangana board (SBTET) or equivalent.
  • B.Sc. (Mathematics) holders: A 3-year B.Sc. degree with Mathematics as one of the subjects, from a recognized university. This stream is eligible for lateral entry into B.Tech only, not B.Pharmacy.

Sandwich pattern diploma candidates: Candidates pursuing a diploma under the sandwich pattern are eligible, but only after completing their practical training — this must be completed before the counselling process starts. Without completing practical training, such candidates cannot be considered for admission.

3. Minimum Qualifying Marks (Confirmed)

  • General/OC candidates: Minimum 45% aggregate marks in the qualifying Diploma or B.Sc. (Mathematics) degree.
  • Reserved category (SC/ST and other reserved) candidates: Minimum 40% aggregate marks.

4. Qualifying Percentage for Obtaining a Rank (Distinct from Above)

This is separate from the eligibility-to-apply criterion above, and candidates often confuse the two:

  • The qualifying percentage for obtaining a rank in TG ECET 2026 is 25% of the aggregate marks in the four subjects (three subjects for B.Sc. Mathematics candidates) – i.e., 50 marks out of a total of 200.
  • There is no minimum qualifying mark for SC/ST candidates for ranking purposes.
  • Important: if an SC/ST candidate’s rank was obtained using this relaxation and their category claim is later found invalid at the time of admission, that rank stands cancelled.

5. Final-Year Candidates

Candidates appearing in the final year/semester (2025-26) of their qualifying Diploma or B.Sc. (Mathematics) examination were also eligible to apply, provided they submit their qualifying certificate with the required marks at the time of admission/counselling.

6. Age Limit

There is generally no maximum age limit for appearing in TG ECET. However, candidates seeking fee reimbursement or government scholarships must separately meet age guidelines issued by the Social Welfare Department of Telangana for their specific social category.

7. Branch Preference Rules at Admission

  • For admission into Computer Science and Engineering and its allied branches, first preference is given to candidates holding a Diploma in Computer Science Engineering. Remaining vacant seats are filled from candidates with a diploma in any other Engineering/Technology branch, based on integrated merit ranking.
  • For admission into Information Technology, first preference is given to candidates with a Diploma in Information Technology.
  • Diploma candidates from the Special Diploma course in Industrial Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering / Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering must appear for TG ECET-FDH in Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering (EIE) specifically, to be considered for the EIE course.

TG ECET 2026 Documents Required

Certificate verification for TG ECET 2026 counselling is conducted physically at a designated Help Line Centre (HLC), after online slot booking — unlike some other Telangana entrance exams where verification is fully online. Candidates must report to their booked HLC on the scheduled date and time (preferably 10 minutes early), carrying all original documents along with photocopies.

A. Documents Required at the Time of Application

  • Scanned recent passport-size photograph and signature (as per prescribed format)
  • Diploma/B.Sc. mark sheets, for entering academic details
  • Aadhaar card number
  • Caste certificate details, application number, mobile number, and email ID
  • Active mobile number and email ID for OTP verification and login

B. Documents Required at Certificate Verification (Physical, at the HLC)

Candidates must carry originals along with two sets of self-attested photocopies of the following:

  1. TG ECET 2026 Hall Ticket
  2. TG ECET 2026 Rank Card
  3. SSC / 10th Class Certificate — as proof of date of birth
  4. Diploma / B.Sc. Marks Memos of all years (complete set)
  5. Intermediate or equivalent Memo-cum-Pass Certificate — specifically required in addition for B.Sc. (Mathematics) candidates
  6. Provisional Diploma Certificate / Degree Certificate (or a Bonafide/Course Completion Certificate from the institution if the final certificate is not yet issued)
  7. Transfer Certificate (TC) from the institution last attended
  8. Study Certificate covering the relevant academic years
  9. Residence Certificate
  10. Caste Certificate (Integrated Community Certificate), if claiming BC/SC/ST reservation
  11. Income Certificate, where EWS benefit or fee reimbursement is being claimed
  12. Aadhaar Card
  13. Recent passport-size photographs (matching the ones submitted at application)
  14. Special quota certificates, where applicable — NCC, CAP, Sports & Games, PH (Persons with Disability)

Important notes on documents, based on the confirmed process:

  • Physical presence at the HLC is mandatory for certificate verification — this cannot be completed remotely for regular candidates.
  • Candidates whose certificates were already verified in an earlier counselling phase (Phase 1) are generally not required to undergo certificate verification again in the Final Phase – they can log in directly and exercise fresh web options. However, all candidates participating for the first time in this cycle must complete full verification.
  • Fresh web options are mandatory in the Final Phase — any options saved or frozen during Phase 1 are automatically discarded and do not carry forward.
  • After verification, a login ID is sent to the candidate’s registered mobile number, which is then used for web option entry.
  • The Provisional Seat Allotment Order, once released, must be downloaded using the ROC Form Number, Hall Ticket Number, password, and date of birth, and carried along with originals at the time of self-reporting and physical reporting to the allotted college.
  • Failure to complete tuition fee payment and self-reporting within the notified window results in automatic cancellation of the allotted seat.
  • No cancellations are permitted after the Final Phase counselling concludes.
  • Candidates are advised to make all fee payments using their own bank accounts to avoid refund-related complications later.
