of Hotel Management offers a 3-year
B.Sc in Hospitality & Hotel Administration for students, who have passed
Inter /Plus 2. An All India Joint Entrance Examination held in April chooses
students for over 4000 seats, 150 of which are offered at Institute of Hotel
Management, Hyderabad. The course
offers Food Production (Cookery), Food & Beverage service (Restaurant
service), Housekeeping, Front Office, Computers, Sales & Marketing,
Communication skills, Management, Finance and more. Training inputs are
imparted in the Kitchen, Bakery, Training Restaurant, Model Bedroom Front
Office and Computer Labs. A6-moths industry exposure in the II-year is
mandatory and a live project in the final year completes the curriculum. For
graduates in Hotel Management, a 2-year M.Sc Hospitality Administration is
offered, which hones the managerial and leadership skills of professionals from
the industry. A 11/2 year Post-graduate Diploma in
Accommodation Operations and Management course is offered to graduates of any
stream to enable them to enter the industry in the Housekeeping and Front
Office Departments. Students, who wish to take up jobs after SSC can enroll in
craft courses offering certificates in Food production (11/2

Career Prospects
Graduating students of Hotel
Management must aspire for Corporate / Management Trainee which is the highest
entry level position in top hotel companies. Pay packet will range between Rs.2
lakh and Rs.3 lakh plus perks. Operations/ Supervisory trainee is the next
entry level position where salaries can range from Rs.8,000/- p.m. to
Rs.10,000/- p.m. the above two positions enable the recruitee to acquire
inhouse training in all departments of the hotel, designed and monitored by the
company. Students who acquire degree in culinary arts (food production
specialization) will enter the industry at Kitchen Executive Trainee (Salary :
Rs. 2 lakh to Rs.2.5 lakh p.a. plus perks) or as Kitchen Operations Trainee

Hyderabad and Tirupati, food Craft Institute, Visakhapatnam (sponsored by
Government of A.P. and Government of India) offers short duration courses for
students, who have passed Inter or SSC, Fee very from Rs.45,000 per annum (in
IHM) to Rs.65,000.
