TG EAPCET Reservations 2026: Seat Matrix for EWS, SC, ST, OBC, PWD, Sports, NCC

The TG EAPCET 2026 Reservation Policy is implemented according to the Government of Telangana guidelines for admissions into Engineering, Agriculture, and Pharmacy (EAP) courses. During TG EAPCET 2026 Counselling, seat allotment is based on the candidate’s TG EAPCET Rank, Reservation Category, Local Area Status, Web Options, College-wise Seat Matrix, and Seat Availability. The reservation policy includes SC, ST, BC, EWS, along with Women, PwD, NCC, Sports, and CAP reservation quotas.

Candidates claiming reservation benefits must submit valid Caste Certificate, Income Certificate, EWS Certificate (if applicable), and other relevant supporting documents during Certificate Verification at the allotted Help Line Centre (HLC). Failure to produce the required documents may result in the candidate being considered under the Open Category (OC), as per the official counselling guidelines.

Candidates should also review the TG EAPCET 2026 Reservation Rules, College-wise Seat Matrix, Previous Years’ Cutoff Ranks, College Predictor, Counselling Simulator, and Web Options Guidelines to make informed admission decisions, improve counselling planning, and increase their chances of securing a preferred seat.

To stay updated with the latest information on TG EAPCET 2026 Reservation Policy, Category-wise Reservation Rules, Seat Matrix, Certificate Verification, Cutoff Ranks, Web Options, Seat Allotment Results, College Predictor, Counselling Simulator, Help Line Centres (HLCs), and other important counselling notifications, regularly visit Manabadi.

Telangana Engineering Admissions: 15,000 New Seats Approved by AICTE; Likely to be Available from Second Phase Counseling

  • AICTE Approval: 15,000 new engineering seats have been sanctioned by AICTE.
  • Management Request: College managements urge the state government to grant immediate approval.
  • Counseling Schedule: The newly approved seats are expected to be available by the second phase of counseling; the first phase begins today.

There is a strong possibility that the total number of B.Tech seats in Telangana may increase this year. However, the final decision is yet to be taken by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Last year, the total intake across both convenor and management quotas stood at 1,25,345 seats.

For the current academic year, several colleges have applied to the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) seeking approval for additional seats in existing branches as well as new course offerings. Accordingly, the AICTE has granted approval for around 15,000 new seats. However, the state government still needs to issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for these seats to be officially included.

Representatives from various college managements recently met government authorities to expedite the approval process. Expressing their concerns, the managements stated that while private and deemed universities are admitting large numbers of students, they face restrictions in increasing their own seat intake. They further added that fee structures are being reduced and pending fee reimbursement dues are not being released, which is creating financial pressure on institutions.

Demand Expected to Rise for Core Branches

The government has pointed out that nearly 70% of the currently available seats are concentrated in Computer Science and its allied branches. This year, there are indications that demand for core engineering branches might rise. In this context, the government is carefully analyzing whether it is truly necessary to increase CSE-related seats further.

Meanwhile, the Technical Education Department has sought details from the respective universities regarding how many additional seats each college is asking for. They have requested comprehensive information on the admission trends, the quality of education provided, and the infrastructural readiness of these colleges. A detailed report will be submitted to the Chief Minister as soon as this response is received.

Seats Available Only After Fresh Inspections

Although Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH) and Osmania University (OU) have already completed college inspections, those evaluations were completed entirely based on last year’s branches and seat capacities. Now, if new courses and additional seats are to be approved, fresh inspections must be conducted. Approvals will only be granted to colleges that strictly comply with regulations regarding qualified faculty, laboratories, and other mandatory infrastructure.

Given the timeline, officials estimate that even if these additional seats receive government clearance, they can only be included starting from the second phase of counseling. The first phase of the engineering counseling process is scheduled to begin on June 19, with the web options facility opening on June 25. For reference, the government had permitted 7,650 additional seats during the second phase of counseling last year as well.

76,795 Engineering Seats Filled Last Year

Last year, two new government engineering colleges were added under the jurisdiction of Palamuru and Satavahana Universities. On the other hand, five private colleges closed down—among which two were converted into deemed universities, one merged into a private university, and two others did not apply for renewal at all. In total, 76,795 B.Tech seats were filled across government and private engineering colleges last year. Additionally, it was estimated that around 6,500 seats would be added under the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) quota.

TAFRC Retains Existing Tuition Fees for 12 Private Colleges Ahead of TG EAPCET Counselling

The Telangana Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee (TAFRC) has announced that tuition fees will remain unchanged for 11 private engineering colleges and one law college in Telangana. The clarification comes just before the commencement of the TG EAPCET 2026 Counselling, providing certainty to students and parents regarding the applicable fee structure.

Earlier, representatives of 12 institutions, including Anurag, Guru Nanak, Mahavir Group, Sree Dattha, Methodist, and Nalla Malla Reddy, had approached the High Court, alleging that the tuition fees approved for the 2025–28 block period were initially increased but later reduced. The High Court directed TAFRC to conduct a fresh hearing after giving the colleges an opportunity to present their case.

Following the court’s directions, TAFRC held detailed hearings with the college representatives on June 15 and 16. After examining the institutions’ income, expenditure, audited financial statements, and other records submitted for fee determination, the committee decided to retain the previously approved tuition fees without any revision.

TAFRC has officially communicated its decision to all the concerned colleges through formal letters. With TG EAPCET 2026 engineering counselling underway, this decision ensures that admissions to these institutions will be conducted using the existing fee structure, helping candidates make informed choices while exercising their Web Options.

TG EAPCET 2026 Phase 3 (Final Phase) Counselling Overview:

1. Fresh Web Options Are Mandatory

Your web options do not carry over between phases.

  • According to counselling rules, Phase 1 and Phase 2 options are not considered in the Final Phase.
  • You must build and lock a completely new list of college and branch preferences during the Phase 3 web options window on August 1–2, 2026.
  • If you accept a seat in Phase 3, you automatically lose your previously allotted seat from Phase 1 or Phase 2.

2. Available Seats Are Limited to Vacancies

Phase 3 options are constrained by the seats left over after the first two phases.

  • Following the closure of Phase 2, there are 14,257 convener-quota seats remaining vacant.
  • With 80,167 seats already allotted across the previous phases, the overall fill rate currently stands at 84.90%.
  • Therefore, your options in Phase 3 are limited to the remaining 15.10% of seats, which are distributed across 113 colleges and 29 branches.

3. Risk of Withdrawing or Accepting Worse Seats

Your Phase 2 actions dictate your status going into Phase 3.

  • If you secured a seat in Phase 1 or Phase 2 and are satisfied, you do not need to participate in Phase 3; your current seat is retained.
  • If you want to upgrade in Phase 3, you should only list options that you genuinely prefer over your current allotment. If you are allotted a worse seat in Phase 3, you permanently surrender your earlier seat with no recourse.
  • The absolute last date to completely cancel an admission secured in Phase 2 is July 28, 2026. Dropouts or cancellations are strictly prohibited after the Final Phase of counselling is completed.

TG Engineering Admissions: Government Seeks Modification of High Court Fee Orders

  • Telangana Government has approached the High Court seeking modification of the interim orders on engineering college fee collection.
  • The case is linked to the TG EAPCET 2026 Engineering Admissions process.
  • Earlier, the High Court permitted colleges to collect tuition fees directly from students.
  • The government wants the fee reimbursement amount to be credited directly to eligible students’ bank accounts.
  • Private colleges have raised concerns over pending fee reimbursement arrears of nearly ₹2,800 crore.
  • Colleges stated that only ₹250 crore has been allocated so far and sought clarity on the release of the remaining dues.
  • The government argued that economically weaker and middle-class students face difficulties in paying tuition fees upfront.
  • The High Court has postponed the hearing to Thursday.

Ahead of the TG EAPCET 2026 Engineering Admissions, the Telangana Government has approached the High Court seeking modification of the interim orders that allowed engineering colleges to collect tuition fees directly from students. The government submitted that crediting the fee reimbursement amount directly into eligible students’ bank accounts would benefit economically weaker and middle-class students who are unable to pay the fees in advance.

Private engineering colleges opposed the proposal, stating that the government still owes nearly ₹2,800 crore in fee reimbursement arrears. They pointed out that only ₹250 crore has been allocated so far and there is no clarity on when the remaining dues will be cleared. The colleges also questioned who would be responsible if students fail to pay the tuition fees after receiving the reimbursement amount.

After hearing arguments from both the government and the colleges, the High Court postponed the matter to Thursday for further hearing.

Candidates who have been allotted seats must complete their Online Self-Reporting process by July 28, 2026.

Major Shift in Web Options as Students Upgrade

A significant number of students chose to modify their Web Options during Phase 2 to secure better colleges and preferred branches. Statistics reveal that 34,838 candidates updated their choices, while 37,442 candidates preferred to retain their Phase 1 allotments. Furthermore, several top rankers shifted to private universities or options outside the state, creating opportunities for other candidates to slide into higher-preference seats.

Phase 3 Counselling to Begin on July 31

For candidates who wish to try for further upgrades or those who have not yet secured a seat, the Phase 3 Counselling is scheduled to commence on July 31, 2026. Officials have reminded candidates that completing the Online Self-Reporting and Tuition Fee Payment process within the stipulated deadline is mandatory to retain their allotted seats before the final phase of counselling begins.

60,792 Candidates Compete in Second Phase of Engineering Counseling

A total of 60,792 candidates submitted web options in the second phase of engineering counseling and are competing for B.Tech seats. Although 79,000 candidates secured seats in the first phase, only 60,300 candidates completed online self-reporting. Officials stated that a majority of them submitted web options again in the second phase in pursuit of better colleges and courses. A total of 26.55 lakh web options were recorded, averaging around 44 options per candidate. Seats for these candidates will be allotted on the 22nd of this month.

CM Gives Green Signal for Additional B.Tech Seats

B.Tech seats in the state are set to increase significantly. Additional seats will be included in the second phase of engineering counseling, which is scheduled to begin this Friday. For the 2026–27 academic year, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has sanctioned approximately 15,000 additional B.Tech seats to colleges. Whether these seats will be approved depends on the state government’s decision.

In this context, N. Sridhar, Principal Secretary to the CM Office, along with education department officials, met with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Thursday to discuss the matter. Following the Chief Minister’s approval, officials under the leadership of Sridevasena, Commissioner of the State Technical Education Department and EAPCET Admissions Convenor, have commenced the groundwork to finalize the college-wise and seat-wise allocation.

It is reported that around 4,000 seats might be increased. Out of these, 70% of the seats will be included in the counseling under the Convenor Quota. As web options are scheduled to begin on the 18th of this month, clarity is expected by Friday midnight or Saturday morning. Fearing that some colleges might approach the courts if they are not allocated additional seats, officials are carefully reviewing the number of colleges and additional seats that can be approved.

Engineering Admissions: Second Phase Counselling & Management Quota

Students who were allotted seats in the first phase must complete their online self-reporting by the 14th of this month. Failure to do so will result in the automatic cancellation of the seat, though they remain eligible for the second phase.

Student Trends by Rank Category

1. Top Rankers (Ranks 1 to 10,000)

  • Low Self-Reporting: Very few top rankers report for their allotted seats in the second phase.
  • Alternative Options: These students typically target national institutes like IITs/NITs or opt for private deemed universities that lure them with lower fee structures.

2. Mid-Range Rankers (Ranks 10,000 to 25,000)

  • Advancement Opportunities: Since top rankers frequently vacate their seats, these mid-range students have a strong chance of upgrading to better colleges and branches during the second phase.
  • Core Focus: Strong preference remains locked on Computer Science and engineering streams.

3. Lower-Mid Rankers (Ranks 75,000 to 100,000)

  • Branch Dissatisfaction: A large majority were allotted traditional branches (Civil/Mechanical) in lesser-known colleges during the first phase.
  • Shift to Management: Approximately 40% of these students are expected to bypass the second phase and attempt to secure preferred seats via the management quota instead.

4. High Rankers (Ranks 100,000+)

  • Seat Distribution: 18,763 seats were allotted to this category in the first phase.
  • Continued Search: Many are still holding out for better branch options in the upcoming counselling rounds.

The Private Management Strategy

With over 35,000 management quota seats available, private college managements and public relations agencies are actively pursuing students to maximize enrollment before the second phase concludes:

  • High-Demand Streams (CSE, Data Science, Cyber Security, AI & ML): Managements are aggressively targeting students with ranks above 25,000, commanding high donations due to massive demand.
  • Traditional Streams (Civil, Mechanical, ECE, EEE): To fill vacant slots, colleges are offering seats to students with ranks above 100,000 at significantly lower donation fees.

How Will the TG EAPCET 2026 Phase 1 Seat Allotment Influence Phase 2 Counselling

The TG EAPCET 2026 Phase 1 Seat Allotment provides valuable insights for candidates preparing for the Phase 2 Counselling. Apart from allotting seats to eligible candidates, the first phase also reveals the actual demand for colleges and branches, category-wise competition, vacancy positions, and expected cutoff trends. Candidates can use this information to make better decisions while exercising their Phase 2 Web Options.

  • Vacant Seats Will Increase in Phase 2: Although 79,891 candidates secured seats during the first phase, 8,162 seats remained vacant across participating engineering colleges. In addition, more seats are expected to become available after some candidates fail to pay the tuition fee, do not complete online self-reporting, cancel their admission, or choose admission through other entrance examinations and institutions. These vacant seats will be added to the Phase 2 seat matrix, giving candidates another opportunity to secure admission.
  • Phase 1 Cutoff Ranks Help Predict Phase 2 Admission Chances: The Phase 1 Closing Cutoff Ranks serve as the best reference for candidates participating in the second phase. By comparing their TG EAPCET Rank with the latest cutoff ranks, candidates can estimate their admission chances more accurately. In colleges and branches where seats remain vacant, the cutoff ranks may increase during Phase 2, improving the chances of admission for candidates with comparatively higher ranks.
  • Opportunity for New Candidates: The TG EAPCET 2026 Phase 2 Counselling is also an opportunity for candidates who did not participate in the first phase, were not allotted any seat, or could not complete the counselling process earlier. Such candidates can complete the required counselling formalities and exercise fresh Web Options according to the official Phase 2 schedule.

How to Use This to Your Advantage in Phase 2

If you are participating in Phase 2, adjust your approach using these three rules:

  1. Avoid the “8,619 Mistake”: The report highlights that 8,619 candidates did not secure a seat at all because they entered too few options or only chose ultra-high-demand branches with lower ranks. In Phase 2, expand your college list. Mix your ambitious dream choices with realistic, safe options based on the vacancies.
  2. Target the 8,162 Leftover Seats: With 8,162 total vacant seats left across the board, do a deep dive into the official vacancy matrix (released before Phase 2 web options begin). Prioritize colleges that have high single-digit or double-digit vacancies in your preferred branch, as your odds of landing a seat there are statistically much higher.
  3. Lock in Your Phase 1 Seat First: If you already have a seat but want a better one, make sure you complete the mandatory online self-reporting and fee payment by the 14th. This keeps your Phase 1 seat safe as a safety net. If you get a better allocation in Phase 2, your old seat is automatically transferred; if you don’t, your Phase 1 seat remains yours.
