| The Government of Andhra Pradesh has been giving State Awards to meritorious teachers working in the Universities and the Colleges in the State in recognition of their meritorious service on 5th September (Teachers Day) every year.The Award carries a Gold Plated Silver Medal , Certificate , a Cash Award of Rs 1,000/- and a shawl. The teachers are selected on the basis of the following criteria prescribed by the Government |

| Eligibility Criteria |
| |
- A teacher should put in a minimum of 10 years of service as Lecturer in Degree Colleges.
- He / she must be engaged in active teaching work on the date of recommendation. However , teachers who have been on regular teaching work during during the previous 12 months shall also be considered.
- A teacher who is recipient of this State Award earlier shall not be considered.
- Teachers who retired during the previous academic year shall also be eligible.

| Judging Criteria |
| |
- Commitment to and excellence in academic work and teaching as judged by class room teaching , coverage of course content , regularity, effectiveness of teaching and use of teaching aids and audio-visual aids.
- Research contributions, publications, books, etc.
- Professional recognition, awards etc.,
- Involvement in student welfare activities ,extension, consultancy and other co- and –extra curricular activities. Honesty ,integrity ,conduct ,character and ability to get along with the colleagues , students and others.

| The schedule for submission and processing of proposals is as follows
Last date for submission of bio-data in the prescribed proforma by the teachers to the principals concerned. 30.06.2006
Last date for submission of the proposals of Teachers duly recommended by the principals to the RJDCE. 07.07.2006
Last date for submission of the bio-data in the prescribed in respect of Principas to the RJDCEs concerned. 07.07.2006
Last date for submission of the proposals (Both teachers & principals) duly recommended by the RJDCEs to the Commissioner. 15.07.2006 |
