Mandatory TET for In-Service Teachers
In a major policy change, the Telangana State Government has amended Rule 12 (Exemption from Passing TET) under GO MS No. 36.
As per the new rule, all in-service teachers currently working in Government and Local Body Schools are now mandated to appear for the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) — conducted either by the State Government (TS TET) or the Central Government (CTET).
This amendment ensures uniform teacher quality standards and aligns Telangana’s teacher recruitment norms with the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) guidelines.
TS TET 2026 Notification
Telangana TET has held the TET nine times across all these sessions and the November 2025 session will account for the tenth TET iteration in the state. With the demand for certified educators on the rise, the government introduced two TETs this year. For the exam held in January 2026, 286,381 candidates applied.
