What are the main features of the mechanical teachers and the schoolrooms that Margie and Tommy have in the story?

Answer: Margie and Tommy were the students of future generation. They had no human teachers. They had mechanical teachers. They had large black screens in place of . blackboards. Their lessons were shown and

Questions were asked on the digital screens

They had a slot in which students had to put their homework and test papers. The lessons were arranged according to their levels. They had to write their answers in a punch code and the mechanical teacher would calculate the marks within no time

Their schools were not away from their homes. They did not sit among a large number of learners in special classrooms. Their schools were in their homes itself. They did not have any classmates. They learned geography, history and arithmetic

They had regular days and hours for school. Margies school was right next to her bedroom. The mechanical teacher always turned on at the same time every day except Saturdays and Sundays

Question 2.
Why did Margie hate school? Why did she think the old kind of school must have been fun?

Answer: Margie was a girl of 11 years old. She hated her school system because it was not fun. She had a mechanical teacher that used to teach her everyday at a fixed time. Due to some malfunction, she had been doing badly in the geography tests given by her mechanical teacher. Her mother was not happy with Margies performance

Margies mother sent for the County Inspector to check whether there was any problem with the mechanical teacher. She hoped that the inspector would take the mechanical teacher away

She was disappointed when the County Inspector managed to fix the problem in the machine. She hated the homework and test papers given by the mechanical teacher. She did not like to write her answers in a punch code

Margie, thought that the old kind of school must have been fun. She imagined all the children from the entire neighbourhood coming together, laughing and shouting in the schoolyard. She imagined that they would sit together in the classroom and go home together at the end of the day

They would learn the same things and could help one another with the homework and talk about it: The teachers were human beings. They were able to share their feelings with them. So she believed that the old kind of school must have been fun

Question 3.
Do you agree with Margie that schools today are more fun than the school in the story? Give reasons for your answer?

Answer: Yes, I agree with Margie. Schools nowadays are more fun than the school mentioned in the story. I think there should be an interaction between the learner and the teacher. In the story, there is no interaction between students and teachers. Learning subjects without human teachers would be a boring ide

Doing homework without anybodys help and writing them in a punch code would also be draining. Moreover, children develop a better understanding about each other and of their surroundings when they go to a school and interact with each other. They would develop social relationship among them

Listening to their lessons from their teachers is alwàys more interesting than reading and learning the entire lessons on a mechanical computer. Whenever a child faces any problem in learning, The child can take the help of classmates and teachers. It is impossible to discuss problems and situations with a mechanical teacher as it is only programmed to teach in a fixed manner

The students would miss the excitement of waiting to know the marks scored in exams. When the marks are calculated immediately after a test has been taken, They miss the natural excitement. They become mechanical. They will not know the learning levels of other children

There would be no chance of getting and making friends who can understand them. They cannot learn the qualities like obedience, respect, kindness for others. Learners would miss taking part in school games, sports, and other activities. So, schools nowadays are more fun than the school system mentioned in the story

Question1.
Imagine that Margies mother told her, "Youll feel awful if you dont finish your history lesson." She could also say: "Youll feel awful unless you finish your history lesson."?

Unless means if not. Sentences with unless or if not are negative conditional sentences. Notice that these sentences have two parts. The part that begins with if not or unless tells us the condition. This part has a verb in the present tense (look at the verbs dont finish, finish in the sentences above).

The other part of the sentence tells us about a possible result. It tells us what will happen (if something else doesnt happen). The verb in this part of the sentence is in the future tense (youll feel/you will feel). Notice these two tenses again in the following examples

Complete the following conditional sentences. Use the correct form of the verb

  1. If I dont go to Anus party tonight, ______

The future world of education is going to be dominated by computers and artificial intelligence

Owing to their versatility, computers have become unavoidable in every sector in the modern world. Obviously the field of education has also been influenced positively by the use of computers. Computers can make teaching more convenient, easier, simpler, colourful, fun-filled and more effective. Interactive whiteboards and smart boards will be available in their classrooms. They will save a lot of time. They can replace the traditional blackboard

There will be no need of writing notebooks wasting time and money. The learning data can be stored and accessed by anyone when he/she wants it. Sharing of knowledge is possible. Aspiring learners can use internet to gather educational information required by them there and then

The use of computers in educatron is a modern renaissance in learning. We can imagine the revolutionary changes in the process of teaching and learning. At present the computers are operated by teachers, however, in future the computers will become so sophisticated that they wont require teachers

It will be continued in the coming years. Students are able to use them for learning. They are able to access the content with the help of an app

I would like to speak against the motion. I strongly feel as long as there is education, there will be human teachers and books. Even though artificial intelligence is available, teachers will always remain indispensable:

I say computers can never make the lesson plans themselves. They can only process the man-made dat

Answer: They dont have any creativity that a dedicated teacher has. They cannot express feelings or emotions

Computers cannot write new books on any subject. They always depend on human beings. I strongly differ from opponents who think school of future wont have books and teachers

I finish my speech by saying that as long as there will be schools, there will be teachers and books

    Thank you one and all

The Fun They Had Summary in English

"The Fun They Had" is a lesson about the future where students read their lessons from books and computers. It suggests that books will be available only on computers, and students will study their lessons by looking at them on screens instead of reading physical books. The robots will teach the lessons

This future is very different from the present where students go to school and learn from human teachers. The story raises curiosity about what it would be like to attend a real school with classmates and enjoy the fun and friendship that comes with it

One day, on May 17th, 2157, Margie writes in her diary about an interesting discovery. Tommy finds an actual book, an ancient artifact that contains stories. Margies grandfather had told her that in the past, stories were printed on paper

Margie and Tommy find it amusing to read from a book because the words on the pages remain fixed, unlike the dynamic screens they are accustomed to. They realize that in their time, books have been replaced by telebooks, and the idea of physical copies seems strange

Tommy believes it is wasteful to read a book and then throw it away when they have a television screen that can store countless books without discarding them. Margie and Tommy begin reading about schools from the past, where humans were the teachers

This surprises Margie, as she has only experienced robotic teachers in her virtual classroom. Margie is not particularly fond of her isolated virtual school, where she lacks classmates and receives an excessive amount of homework from the mechanical teacher

Margie and Tommy attend virtual classes using electronic devices and robots. Their daily lessons are displayed on computer screens and cover various subjects like math and science

When Margies mother calls for a repair of the mechanical device used for Margies classes, the County Inspector fixes the screen. However, Margie feels disappointed that the device was repaired so quickly because it means she will have to continue feeding homework and test papers into it using a punch code

As Margie returns to her virtual class, the mechanical teacher starts teaching fractions. However, Margies mind wanders, imagining the joy her grandparents must have experienced attending a real school in the past

She envisions children of the same age gathering from different neighborhoods, enjoying their time together in a physical school bullding. Margie becomes fascinated by the fun and friendship that children centuries ago had when they attended traditional schools
