JNTUA M.Tech R25 Machine Design – Course Structure & Syllabus

The JNTUA M.Tech R25 Machine Design program is a two-year postgraduate course designed for students who want advanced knowledge in mechanical design, manufacturing systems, automation, and computational analysis. The R25 regulation has been introduced for students admitted from the academic year 2025–26 onwards. The curriculum focuses on strengthening analytical, research, and industrial design skills required in modern mechanical engineering industries.

In the first year, students study core subjects such as Theory of Elasticity and Plasticity, Advanced Finite Element Methods, Advanced Mechanics of Solids, and Design Optimization techniques. These subjects help students understand stress analysis, deformation theory, and modern computational methods used in machine component design. The syllabus also includes professional electives like Robotics, Mechatronics, Reliability Engineering, and Manufacturing Automation.

The laboratory sessions are an important part of the curriculum. Students perform experiments in Machine Dynamics Laboratory, Drives and Controls Lab, CAD/CAM applications, and vibration analysis. These practical sessions improve problem-solving abilities and provide hands-on industrial exposure. Mini projects and seminar presentations are also included to enhance research and communication skills.

During the second year, students focus mainly on dissertation work, project development, and advanced research activities. The project phase allows students to work on real-time industrial or research-oriented problems related to machine design, finite element analysis, thermal systems, and automation technologies.

The R25 syllabus also emphasizes Research Methodology & Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), skill enhancement courses, and interdisciplinary electives. This helps students prepare for careers in design engineering, automotive industries, aerospace, manufacturing sectors, and research organizations.

Overall, the JNTUA M.Tech R25 Machine Design syllabus is industry-oriented and research-focused, providing students with strong theoretical foundations and practical engineering skills required for advanced mechanical design careers.
