One Sun, One World, One Grid Initiative Launched By PM:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Boris Johnson jointly launched the `One Sun, One World, One Grid` (OSOWOG) initiative at the COP 26 Climate Meeting in Glasgow.

Highlights:
♦ The project`s goal is to build a "transnational electrical grid" that will provide solar energy to people all over the world.
♦ OSOWOG`s vision is "The Sun Never Sets." It is a constant in some geographical region of the world at any given time.
♦ This is India`s most ambitious project to date, with far-reaching economic consequences. It has been accepted as part of the World Bank`s technical assistance programme.
♦ This strategy will also make use of the International Solar Alliance (ISA).
♦ On the occasion, he also stated that India`s space agency, ISRO, will soon make available to the rest of the world a calculator that can assess any region`s solar energy potential.
♦ The `One Sun, One World, One Grid` (OSOWOG) system will be implemented to address the difficulty of solar electricity.
♦ The Earth`s atmosphere receives enough sunlight in one hour to power the electricity needs of every person on the planet for a year.
♦ In contrast, solar energy is only available during the day. Another issue is that it is extremely dependent on the weather.
