IIT placements 2023: From crore-plus offers to international Success

Investment banks and high frequency trading companies made over a crore of offers to Indian Institutes of Technology placement season candidates. Comparable to the previous year, less than twenty international postings were made on the first day of closure for the majority of IITs. Four students at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay received offers worth crores or more from Samsung, a Korean company.

Furthermore, Qualcomm picked up around 20 students on the first day. The telecom major works in a variety of capacities at the Powai campus, with salaries ranging from Rs 60 to Rs 80 lakh. A student remarked, "But there are fewer offers for crore plus this year." IITB has placed 193 students as of the time of going to print, up from 183 the previous year. Up to eleven offers totaling Rs 1 crore plus package have been made to IIT Guwahati, as opposed to seven during the 2022–2023 session.

An offer of Rs 2.05 crore was made to an IIT-Roorkee student by the US software company Databricks. Only one student from the campus was hired by the software behemoth, and that student received the highest salary the institute had ever offered. Three or more of the institutes students received offers from overseas universities. Pre-placement offers (PPO) were among the approximately 440 offers that the institute had available until 4 pm on Saturday. About thirty companies came to the campus till the evening on the second day. Among the businesses that stopped by the institute were Qualcomm, Schlumberger Software, Samsung Semiconductor, Barclays, and Accenture.

International student offers for the current placement drive at IIT Kharagpur (2023-24) remained at 19. PPO decreased to 441 this year from 573 last year. Day 1 ended with a total of 771 offers, which was more than the 761 from the previous year. During the first round of the placement process, over sixty-one companies, mostly in the software, analytics, finance-banking, consulting, and core engineering fields, made various job offers to our students. These companies included Apple, Arthur D. Little, Da Vinci, Capital One, DE Shaw, EXL Services, Glean, Google, Graviton, Microsoft, Mckinsey, Quantbox, Databricks, Square point, TSM, Palo Alto, and many more. For the pupils who have received more than 121, profiles have been opened.

"Even when the current placement season is slow, IIT Kharagpur standing tall with more than 700 offers on the first day of placement drive, is itself a manifestation of the testimony for producing quality individuals and providing excellence in education," VK Tiwari, director of IIT Kharagpur, said

At the conclusion of the first placement day at IIT Delhi, 480 offers-450 of which were unique selections-had been accepted by students, including PPOs. According to a statement provided by the institute, over 360 national and international organizations have registered for the placements this year at the campus, with over 660 job profiles across several sectors. In terms of the total number of jobs offered on campus on Day 1, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, and Texas Instruments were the top recruiters.

According to sources, Microsoft employed 18 students from the university, which is a significant increase over previous year. On campus, hiring procedures are carried out both in person and virtually. The Office of Career Services` in-charge professor, R Ayothiraman, stated in a statement that "the office is working to maximize placement of the students who avail ourselves of our services." In order to meet the diverse needs and goals of our student group, we have a strong lineup of businesses from a variety of industries. The institute stated in a disclaimer that they had chosen not to highlight high-value products.
