V.K. Saraswat, a member of NITI Aayog, would be honoured with honorary doctorate at the 6th convocation of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad. He would also deliver the convocation address while Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan would preside.
The JNTU Hyderabad Vice-Chancellor, A. Venugopal Reddy, said at a press conference held here on Wednesday that the convocation was being held after a gap of two-and-a-half years and about 2.67 lakh students would receive their degrees.
He said 738 candidates would be awarded Ph.D degrees while 111 candidates would receive gold medals for their meritorious achievement.
Academic activities :
Explaining the academic activities and collaborative programmes, he said a memorandum of understanding has been signed with NASSCOM and TASK for skill development programmes and Netcracker Technology Solution (India) Pvt. Ltd.
Ideation Centre ;
An Ideation Centre funded by the Alumni Association has been launched at the College of Engineering at Kukatpally to bring students and investors under one roof to incubate possible business ventures.
Prof. Reddy said JNTUH has been ranked 63rd in the NIRF rankings and it applied under the engineering colleges rather than the universities’ stream for ranking.
The Sultanpur campus of JNTU has installed a solar power plant with a capacity of 4 MW that generates 5.8 million units (MU) per year and saves around Rs. 4 crore electricity bill for the university.
