 1. IIFA Awards 2018 Announced: Complete List Of Winners.

At the Indian International Film Awards (IIFA), held on Sunday night in Bangkok, late star Sridevi won Best Actress (posthumously) for MOM while Irrfan Khan was given the Best Actor Award for Hindi Medium. Vidya Balan`s Tumhari Sulu was awarded with the Best Film trophy. Celebs like Rekha, Ranbir Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Anil Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Kartik Aryan, Karan Johar and several others attended the star-studded night in Bangkok. Boney Kapoor collected Sridevi`s Best Actress trophy. IIFA returned to Bangkok after a gap of 10 years and Rekha mesmerised the audiences with her stellar performance. Karan Johar and Riteish Deshmukh hosted the show.

2. Vasundhara Raje Conferred With ‘CM Of The Year’ Award.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje was on Saturday conferred the ‘Chief Minister of the Year’ award for her remarkable work in e-governance. The award was given at the 52nd Skoch Summit held in New Delhi. Union Steel Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh was the chief guest at the function.

The award was received by Raje’s OSD in advisory council Dr Anuj Saxena and joint director of IT department R L Solanki on her behalf from Skoch Group chairman Sameer Kochhar, according to an official statement issued.

Efforts of the chief minister and state government were appreciated in implementing the prime minister’s Digital India campaign for benefitting the common man, it said.

 

3. FICCI Awarded At X International IT Forum In Russia.

The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) along with several industry members and senior government officials and academia, recently participated in X International IT Forum at Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia.

Organised by the Government of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Ugra region, the forum brought together industry leaders from BRICS and SCO nations as well as other countries to a single platform to interact and discuss collaboration in the fields of information technology and digital transformation.

FICCI received an award during the event, for its support and active participation at the forum, consecutively for two years. The 20-member Indian delegation, which was supported by Indian Embassy at Russia, actively participated in the sector specific seminars and several other B2G and B2B sessions organized by FICCI at the India pavilion.

The prime objective of the visit was to leverage on the unique strengths of the Indian IT industry potential and Russia`s innovative products. The delegation members also explored the partnership and business opportunities in the area of digital and disruptive technologies.

During the opening ceremony of the IT Forum, Alok Raj, Minister (Education), Indian Embassy at Russia Federation highlighted the importance of ICT and Digital Skilling, and how it will become even more important with growing strategic collaborations in various sectors. He emphasized on the importance of strategic partnership between BRICS and SCO members countries.

 

4. President Presents ‘National Awards For Outstanding Services In The Field Of Prevention Of Alcoholism And Drug Abuse’.

The President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind will present the “Fourth National Awards for outstanding services in the field of Prevention of Alcoholism and Substance (Drug) Abuse” to the institutions and individuals on the occasion of ‘International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’ (26th June, 2018) at a function organized by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on 26th June, 2018 in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, Ministers of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar, Shri Ram Das Athawale and Shri Vijay Sampla will grace the occasion. State Government Officials, NGOs, National and International organizations working in this field, Students from Colleges & Schools, professionals & experts and Personnel from Para Military Forces will also attend the function.

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment celebrates 26th June every year as International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The Government of India has instituted a Scheme of the National Awards for outstanding services in the field of prevention of Alcoholism & Substance (Drug) Abuse from the year 2013. The Awards were earlier conferred annually till 2014. However, the Scheme of the Award has now been revised and the Awards are now conferred biennially.

The Scheme is applicable to Institutions and individuals working in the field of Prevention of Drug and Alcoholism Abuse. So far three National Awards have been successfully conducted on 26th June, 2013, 26th June 2014 and 26th June, 2016. 

 

5. Kalki Koechlin Conferred With French Honour.

Actor Kalki Koechlin will be conferred with the French distinction of Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters (Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres) on Friday, for her contribution in enhancing Indo-French ties in cinema.

The honour comes in recognition of an actor, who has interpreted striking roles in the Indian film industry, experimented with various forms of films as well as shown an abiding commitment to important social issues.

Kalki, who has French roots, has done films such as Dev.D, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Shanghai and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani to name a few.

The award will be presented by the Ambassador of France to India, Alexandre Ziegler, who will be undertaking a two-day trip in Mumbai on June 22-23 to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the sustainable urban mobility, cultural, academic and corporate sectors between France and India.

Ambassador Ziegler will be starting his day with a visit of the Mumbai Metro One office for an overview of the train management system as well as a hands-on experience of driving a train in the simulator room. The Mumbai Metro One Line was built with French expertise in sustainable Mass Rapid Transport Systems, involving French companies SYSTRA and Veolia Transport.

 

6. Rajnath Singh Approves ‘Home Minister`s Special Operation Medal’.

Union Home Ministry has instituted new medals in the special operations category for meritorious officers in police, security and intelligence services.

The medals are meant for special operations, Intelligence category and will be awarded on Independence Day and Republic Day annually.

“Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has approved the institution of “Home Minister’s Special Operation Medal”. Police Officers of States & Union Territories, Central Police Organisations (CPOs), Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Security Organisation involved in Special Operations will be eligible,” said the MHA statement.

“The Union Home Minister has also instituted three more Medals, — the Antarik Suraksha Medal, Asadharan Aashuchan Padak, and Utkrisht & Ati-Utkrisht Seva Medal.

The Medals will be awarded annually; while the HM’s Special Operation Medal and Asadharan Aashuchan Padak will be awarded on 15th August coinciding with the Independence Day, the Antarik Suraksha Medal and Utkrisht & Ati-Utkrisht Seva Medal will be announced on 26th January to mark the Republic Day.

The Asadharan Aashuchan Padak will be given to officials of Intelligence organization of Central and State Governments, Assam Riffles and NSG.

The Antarik Suraksha Medal will be bestowed upon Police personnel of States and central police forces engaged in the operation duty rendered by them for a tenure of every two years in Internal Security in Jammu & Kashmir State, Maoist affected areas North Eastern States.
