 1. RBL Bank Opens All Women Branch in Chennai.

Private sector RBL Bank has set up an all women branch here today.

The branch at R A Puram would be managed by eight women and offer all products and services across liability and assets, a bank statement said.

“It is a matter of immense pride for us to launch our first all women branch in Chennai. This is a full service branch offering a range of products and services”, RBL Bank, Branch and Business Banking, Head-Geography, Surinder Chawla said.

The women branch is a testament to the bank’s efforts in encouraging gender equality, he said.

RBL Bank currently serves 3.54 million customers. It has 246 branches and 389 ATM services across the country, the statement added.

2. Andhra Bank Launches scheme to push Entrepreneurship.

Andhra Bank has on Tuesday launched a new scheme for self-help groups (SHGs) to encourage entrepreneurship.

The scheme, Pattabhi Sitaramayya — Self Business Group (PS-SBG), has been introduced to commemorate the 138th birth anniversary of its founder Bhogaraju Pattabhi Sitaramayya, and the Silver Jubilee of the SHG-Bank linkage programme in the country.

Under the scheme, SHGs having five years of association with Andhra Bank and having successfully completed three credit rotations with good repayment record and an aptitude for entrepreneurship, will be eligible for a loan. Finance in the form of working capital and term loan can be extended to the group or in individual capacity within the group to the extent of ?25 lakh without any collateral security on easier terms and conditions, according to a release.
