- Venus Williams was the defending champion for the title. However, she chose not to participate despite qualifying for the edition.
2) Andy Murray becomes world number one
- British tennis player Andy Murray, 29, became the world`s number one men`s tennis player. He has achieved this position from Novak Djokovic.
- It took him 7 years to become number one from number two.
- He was 22-year-old when he first became number two. Andy Murray is the oldest British player to have topped the world ranking.
3) India to host second Twenty20 Blind World Cup

- India is set to host the second Twenty20 Blind World Cup next year, the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) announced on November 9 in Bangalore.
- They also signed Rahul Dravid as the brand ambassador for the tournament that will begin on January 31 in New Delhi.
- India won the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2012 in Bangalore.
