1) Project Energia by INTERPOL and World Andi-Doping Agency (WADA).

  • Interpol has launched a new programme jointly with the World Andi-Doping Agency (WADA), named Project Energia, to combat doping abuse in sports, according to a statement by the global police organisation.
  • Supported by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the School of Criminal Science at the University of Lausanne (UNIL), Project Energia will focus on substances used with the exclusive aim of improving physical fitness and athletic performance
2) Tendulkar felicitates India`s Paralympic medallists.
  • Four Indian Rio Paralympics medal winners Devendra Jhajharia, Mariyappan Thangavelu, Deepa Malik and Varun Singh Bhati were felicitated by a host of personalities, including cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.
  • Jhajharia had won the gold medal in men`s javelin throw F46. Thangavelu also clinched a gold medal in men`s high jump T42 while Bhati won a bronze in the same event. Malik became the first Indian woman to bag a medal in Paralympics by clinching a silver in women`s F53 shot put.

3) Pakistan debarred from Kabaddi World Cup 2016.

  • The 12 nation Kabaddi World Cup kicks off in India, with a row over a decision to bar arch-rivals Pakistan from competing threatening to overshadow the tag-wrestling sport`s showcase event.
  • Formidable Iran clash with newcomers the United States opening round of the competition that also includes top sides from Australia, South Korea, England, Poland, Kenya and Argentina.
4) BRICS U-17 football tournamen begins in Goa. 
  • The Minister of State (I/C) Youth Affairs and Sports Shri Vijay Goel is in Goa to be the Chief Guest at the Opening Ceremony of the BRICS U – 17 Football Tournament.
  • A Government of India initiative the BRICS U – 17 Football Tournament will be played among the BRICS countries namely Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. 
  • The tournament will be commencing at Goa. Bambolim stadium, Goa will witness two matches. The final Match of the tournament is scheduled which will be held at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru stadium, Fatorda.

 

5) 15-year-old Indian girl wins U-16 World Chess C`ships.

  • India`s Aakanksha Hagawane won the girls` U-16 title at the World Youth Chess Championships in Russia. The 15-year-old, who won gold in the U-16 Commonwealth Championships earlier this year, finished with nine points from 11 games, winning eight matches, losing one and drawing two.
  • Aakanksha, a wholesale vegetable seller`s daughter, has been trained by a former national player.
