1) Rani becomes 1st Indian woman to cross 60m in javelin. 

 

  • Javelin thrower Annu Rani smashed her own national record and in the process became the first Indian woman to cross the 60m mark on the third and penultimate day of the 56th open National Athletics Championships in Lucknow.
  • Annu, who won a bronze in the 2014 Incheon Asian Games, threw the javelin to a distance of 60.01m to erase her own earlier national mark of 59.87m which she made in July during the National Inter-State Championships in Hyderabad.
  • Poonam Rani of ONGC won the silver with an effort of 56.73m while the bronze went to another Railway woman K. Rashmi with 51.56m. 
2) Petra Kvitova Won Wuhan Open.
  •  Petra Kvitova produced another sensational performance to beat Slovak 10th seed Dominika Cibulkova and win the Wuhan Open in China.
  •  The Czech, seeded 14th, won 6-1 6-1 in 63 minutes to claim her second Wuhan title and her first of the 2016 season.
  •  Kvitova had beaten world number one Angelique Kerber, Britain`s Johanna Konta and fourth seed Simona Halep on her way to the final.
  •  She will move up to 11th in the new world rankings.

 

 

2) Dsouza becomes the first Indian to complete World`s toughest race. 

 

  •  Twenty three old Kieren D’souza, an ultra-marathoner (one who covers more than the average 42 kms) created history when he became the first Indian to qualify for the Sparthathlon, an annual run in Greece that lasts 246.6 km and is widely considered, `The world’s toughest race`.
  •  He went ahead and bettered that achievement by successfully completing the race. Defying all odds, he completed the race in 33 hours, three minutes and 25 seconds, becoming the first ever Indian to finish it.
 3rd edition of ISL kicks off on spectacular note in Guwahati.
  •  The third edition of Indian Super League, ISL kicked off on a spectacular note at Sarusajai stadium.
  •  Eight teams are vying for the coveted trophy. Home team North East United FC defeated Kerala Blasters by one goal to nil in the opening match.
  •  AIR Correspondent reports, the star of sports and glamour world joined together in Guwahati as the North Eastern region showcased its unique culture, spirit and love for football.

 

 

3) Gaganjeet Bhullar wins Korea Open.

 

  • India`s Gaganjeet Bhullar stormed back from a five-stroke deficit to win the Korea Open, ending an Asian Tour drought after sustaining a serious wrist injury two years ago.
  • The 28-year-old fired an impressive 67 for a four-day total of 269 at the Bears Best Cheongna Golf Club, winning the 216 million-won ($196,000) cash prize.
  • The five-time Asian Tour champion has set his sights on regaining his former glory after suffering a wrist injury that required surgery.

4) Ricciardo Wins Malaysian Grand Prix.

  • Australian racing driver, Daniel Ricciardo has won the 2016 Malaysian Grand Prix held at the Sepang International Circuit in Selangor, Malaysia. 
  • Max Verstappen finished second while Nico Rosberg ended at the third position.
5) India win Test series against New Zealand.
  • India’s team have now won four Test series, are unbeaten in 12 Test matches, and are the No. 1 team in the ICC Test rankings. 
  • The climb to the top of the tree is thoroughly deserved. And calling them spin track bullies would be hugely unfair, especially after this convincing 178 run win on an unusual Eden pitch that offered a lot to the fast bowlers.
