1) Jubilant FoodWorks CEO Ajay Kaul resigns.

  • Ajay Kaul resigned as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jubilant FoodWorks Limited. However, Kaul will continue in his current role till March 2017.
  • Kaul`s resignation came at a time when Jubilant Foodworks, which is the master franchisee of Domino`s and Dunkin` Donuts in India, reported decline of 3.2 per cent in its same-store sales growth (SSG) for the first quarter of financial year 2016-17.
2) Alibaba Head Appointed Adviser at UNCTAD.
  • Chairman of e-commerce giant Alibaba, Jack Ma, has been appointed adviser to the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
  • Jack Ma, one of the richest men in China, will be UNCTAD’s Special Adviser on Youth Entrepreneurship and Small Business.
  • UNCTAD assists developing economies to promote small and medium enterprises, with special emphasis on young entrepreneurs, to enable them to compete in the global economy.
3) New Indian Ambassador to USA.
  • Navtej Singh Sarna 1980 batch IFS Officer has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the United State of America.
  • He is presently, India’s High Commissioner to Britain.
  • Before moving to London, Sarna was Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs where he oversaw the successful hosting last October of the India-Africa Forum Summit that was attended by a record number of 53 African countries.
  • Manipur High Court gets new Chief Justice.
  • Justice Rakesh Ranjan Prashad sworn in as the new Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court. Governor Najma Heptullah administered the oath of office and secrecy to Justice Prashad.
  • Prashad is the third Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court, which became a fully fledged high court from March 13, 2013.

 

4) Patanjali CEO debuts on Forbes` India`s richest list.

  • Patanjali Ayurved Managing Director and primary stakeholder Acharya Balkrishna has debuted on the Forbes` `India`s 100 Richest People` list, with a net worth of $2.5 billion.
  • Balkrishna holds 97% of Patanjali Ayurved, which he Co-founded with Yoga guru Baba Ramdev in 2006, according to Forbes. 
  • Patanjali generated $780 million revenue selling products like cosmetics, noodles, and jams. 
5) Mohan M Shantanagoudar new CJ of Kerala.
  • Justice Mohan M Shantanagoudar was sworn in as Chief Justice of Kerala High Court at a function held at Raj Bhavan.
  • Governor Justice (Retd) P. Sathasivam administered oath of office to Justice Shantanagoudar, who was the acting Chief justice. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his cabinet colleagues were among those present on the occasion.
6) Vijay Kelkar elected president of ISI.
  • Former petroleum secretary Vijay Kelkar has been as the elected president of the prestigious Indian Statistical Institute (ISI).
  • Vijay Kelkar succeeded former RBI governor C. Rangarajan.
  • Indian Statistical Institute is an academic institute of national importance as recognised by a 1959 act of the Indian parliament.
7) Anurag Srivastava as the Ambassador of India to the Republic of Djibouti.
  • Shri Anurag Srivastava presently Ambassador of India to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, has been concurrently accredited as the Ambassador of India to the Republic of Djibouti, with residence in Addis Ababa.
  • He is expected to take up the assignment shortly.
8) Ajay Singh elected BFI president.
  • Uttarakhand’s Ajay Singh has been elected new president of the Boxing Federation of India, and the Mumbai-based Jay Kowli won the post of secretary-general as the election process for the office-bearers of the new National federation was completed.
  • Indian Boxing Federation is the Indian national governing body for Olympic boxing and is the India`s member organization of the International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA). It is headquartered in New Delhi.

9) Govt removes Sushil Muhnot as CMD of Bank of Maharashtra.

  • The government removed Sushil Muhnot as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Bank of Maharashtra without citing any reasons. 
  • Muhnot was to retire on September 30.
  • The government has appointed R.P. Marathe, executive director at Bank of India, MD and CEO of Bank of Maharashtra with immediate effect.
10) Indian TT Team Coach Re-appointed.
  • The Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) re-appointed Italian Massimo Costantini as the national team chief coach for a two-year period.
  • He was with the Indian team from early 2009 till the end of the 2010 Commonwealth Games, guiding India to five medals.
  • After leaving India, Max has had a long-tem stint with a United States club and guided some its players to glory. He was the US team coach at Rio Olympics.
