1) Jellyfish photo wins wildlife photography award.

  • A photograph of a Lion`s mane jellyfish with several small fish taking shelter in its tentacles was declared the overall winner at annual British Wildlife Photography Awards.
  • Titled `HITCHHIKERS`, the photo was clicked by British photographer George Stoyle in the North Atlantic Ocean near Scotland. Pictures were also awarded based on categories like animal behavior and urban wildlife.

2) Canara Bank Gets D&B Award.

  • Canara Bank has been conferred with the Dun & Bradstreet Banking Awards 2016. It has been awarded for being the Best Bank under priority sector lending & Best Retail Growth performer amongst public sector banks.
  • The award was received by Harideesh Kumar B, (ED), Canara Bank, from Vinod Rai, Chairman of Banks Board Bureau. Canara Bank is an Indian state-owned bank headquartered in Bangalore.
3) Pankaj Recommended for Padma Bhushan.
  • Billiards and Snooker Federation of India (BSFI) has once again recommended Pankaj Advani for the Padma Bhushan award.
  • Advani is a 15-time world champion in billiards and snooker. He was also recommended for the honour last year before being overlooked for the award.
  • The Padma Bhushan is the third-highest civilian award in India, after the Bharat Ratna and the Padma Vibhushan.
4) Pawan Singh Awarded ISSF Medal.
  • Pawan Singh, a former shooting coach of the national shooting team, was awarded by International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) in Delhi.
  • He was awarded for his exceptional contribution to the field of shooting. The award comprises a bronze medal and a certificate. He is the youngest Indian to have been honored by ISSF after almost 70 years.

5) Haryana bagged Best Horticulture State award.

  • Haryana has bagged `Best Horticulture State` award for the concerted efforts made by the state government to increase the income of the farmers in horticulture.
  • The award was received by Haryana Agriculture Minister OP Dhankar on at two-day Agricultural Leadership Summit 2016. The summit was organized by Indian Council of Food and Agriculture (ICFA) in New Delhi.
6) Sushil Kumar recommended for Padma Bhushan.
  • Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) nominated the two-time Olympic-medallist wrestler Sushil Kumar for the Padma Bhushan, India`s third-highest civillian honour.
  • The Federation also recommended female wrestler Alka Tomar and Dronacharya awardee Yashvir Singh, Sushil`s coach, for the honour.
  • Earlier, Sushil`s name was recommended for the honour two years ago but was rejected. Sushil is the only Indian athlete to have won two individual Olympic medals - a bronze in the 2008 Beijing Games and silver in the 2012 London Games.
