1) Railways to partner with Google for showcasing its heritage.

  • Railways will collaborate with Google for digitizing and showcasing its heritage on digital platforms. 
  • Google has agreed to partner with Railways to digitize its heritage assets and help create a digital repository for universal online access free of cost. 
  • Indian Railway has a huge list of heritage assets including bridges, steam locos, buildings, artefacts and museums which can be showcased for global audience.
2) Minister of Railways Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu Inaugurates Wi-Fi Services at 8 Mumbai Suburban Railway Stations.
  • Minister of Railways, Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu inaugurated Wi Fi services at 8 Mumbai Suburban Railway Stations in Maharashtra.
  • The Wi-Fi facility for the visitors & rail users of these 8 busy stations of Mumbai Suburban Rail Network has been commissioned by a Railway PSU, RailTel in association with Google for providing high speed State-of-the-art world class INTERNET experience to the commuters.
3) Union Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of Maharashtra and Airports Authority of India sign MOU on Regional Connectivity Scheme.
  •  The Ministry of Civil Aviation, State Government of Maharashtra and Airports Authority of India signed a tri-partite MOU, thereby kicking off the collaborative process of the three agencies coming together for successful launch of the Regional Connectivity Scheme.
  •  The country to promote the Regional Connectivity Scheme and discuss other related issues in the States. Several airports in the State will see activity as flights take off from these places as a part of the Regional Connectivity Scheme.
4) Rajiv Pratap Rudy inaugurates the Centre which will focus on skill development of Army Wives and Wards.
  • Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy inaugurated Delhi’s first ever Army Skill Training Centre (ASTC) out of the total 10 centers that have been planned all across the country.
  • The MOU signed between the Indian Army and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
5) Maharashtra becomes first state to draft law for internal security. 
  • The newly drafted Maharashtra Protection of Internal Security Act (MPISA) has proposed setting up of Special Security Zones (SSZ) where movement of arms, explosives and inflow of unaccounted funds will be prohibited.
  • The zones will also have a command and control system, and separate Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) to be followed by the SSZ police.
  • Maharashtra is the first State in the country to draft its own internal security act.

6) Cabinet approves MoU with Myanmar for cooperation in the field of Traditional Systems of Medicine.

  • Cabinet approves Agreement and the Protocol between India and Cyprus for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion.
  • Cabinet approves signing of Air Services Agreement between India and Fiji.
  • Cabinet approves MoU with South Africa to establish cooperation in Grassroots Innovation.
  • Cabinet approves Central Scheme for Assistance to Civilian Victims of Terrorist/ Communal/ Left Wing Extremist Violence and Cross Border Firing and Mine/IED Blasts on Indian Territory.
  • Cabinet approves Leasing out of Airports Authority of India land to Assam Industrial Development Corporation for Centre for Perishable Cargo at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati.

7) New Railway Lines.
  • Cabinet approves construction of third line between Itarsi and Nagpur.
  • Cabinet approves construction of third line between Jhansi and Bina.

  • Cabinet approves construction of third line between Mathura and Jhansi.

8) Govt launches Accessible E-Library `Sugamya Pustakalaya`. 
  • Sugamya Pustakalaya: A step towards an Accessible Digital India (An online library for persons with visual disabilities) was launched by Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad.
  • National Informatics Centre (NIC) is in the process of making 100 Government websites Divyang friendly of which 16 have already been made Divyang friendly. 
  • The online library has been created in collaboration with National Institute of Visually Handicapped (NIVH), member organizations of Daisy Forum of India (DFI).
9) Odisha cabinet approves startup policy.
  • The state cabinet headed by chief minister Naveen Patnaik approved the Odisha startup policy to promote entrepreneurship among youths.
  • The policy targets setting up of at least 1000 startups within a period of next five years. It also envisages Odisha to be amongst the top three startup hubs by 2020.
  • The state government would come up with a startup capital infrastructure fund up to Rs. 25 crore to support the startup units and young entrepreneurs. The government would also participate in the private state specific funding system to help the startups to grow.
  • Under the policy, universities and colleges are eligible for one-time capital grant up to Rs. 1 crore to set up incubation facilities in their campuses to help students to learn about startups. 
  • Government would provide reimbursement up to Rs. 1 lakh per year for three years to institutions, incubators and industry for proving internet, electricity and mentoring services to startups.
10) Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi Launches Hindi Website and Revamped English Website of Minority Affairs Ministry.
  • The Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs (Independent Charge) & Parliamentary Affairs Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi launched new Hindi website and updated and revamped English website of the Minority Affairs Ministry.
  • The new improved and revamped website www.minorityaffairs.gov.in is very user friendly and provides easy navigation. The website is also adaptive to other devices such as iPads and mobiles.
  • This is a part of our efforts to reach out to the common man at large scale so that fruits of development reach to the last person of the society directly in a transparent manner.
11) Maharashtra, Telangana sign pact for 3 irrigation projects. 
  • Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis signed a pact with his Telangana counterpart K. Chandrasekhar Rao for three irrigation projects to be constructed on Godavari, Pranahita and Painganga rivers. 
  • Under the agreement, the two States would take up Tummidi Hatti (1.8 TMC), Medigadda (16 TMC) and Chanaka-Korata (0.85 TMC) projects.
12) President Pranab Mukherjee launches Akashvani Maitree channel.
  • President Pranab Mukherjee launched Akashvani Maitree channel for Bengali listeners and its website, an initiative which will provide a platform for blending content both from India and Bangladesh and preserving Bengali culture.
  • Akashvani Maitree and its multimedia website is a unique venture and initiative of All India Radio not only for the Bengali listeners in West Bengal, Bangladesh and the adjoining areas but the entire Bengali speaking Diaspora living in different parts of the globe.

13) Smt Maneka Sanjay Gandhi launches POCSO e-Button for children to file complaints of sexual abuse.

  • The POCSO e-Box was launched by the Minister for Women and Child Development, Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi in New Delhi.
  • Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO), e-Box, is an online complaint management system for easy and direct reporting of sexual offences against children and timely action against the offenders under the POCSO Act, 2012.
  • The idea of an e-Box came out of a police initiative in which physical complaint boxes were placed in schools. The e-Box will make it possible to implement it on a large scale throughout the country.
14) Laptops worth Rs. 75 crore distributed to meritorious students in MP.
  • Students who excelled in Madhya Pradesh board`s Class 12 examinations by scoring an aggregate of 85% or above (75% for SC) were felicitated and presented with a laptop by the chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
  • In Madhya Pradesh, Laptops worth Rs. 75 crore have been distributed as a reward in the last six years to over 39,000 meritorious students for performing excellently in 12th class.
15) Maharashtra to tie up with corporates to transform 1,000 villages.
  • Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis plans to transform 1,000 villages with the help of corporate sector, and the civil society over the next few years.
  • The government in various sectors through the CSR and using their resources, knowledge, technology and planning and implementation skills.
16) DIPP to launch awareness campaign on IPR.
  • Secretary of the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Shri Ramesh Abhishek, addressed Industry Associations about taking forward the campaign for Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Awareness in keeping with the first objective of the National IPR Policy: IPR Awareness, Outreach and Promotion.
  • The intellectual property rights in the wake of new IPR policy, the government will launch an awareness programme in 25 universities and institutes across 21 states.
17) BCCI signs MoU with TERI to promote renewable energy.
  • Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with The Energy and Resources Institute (Teri) for promoting renewable energy.
  • The chamber to popularize clean energy and climate. TERI offers technology and business models on renewable.
  • The agreement will forge an alliance between the chamber and TERI to work together in the domain of renewable and allied fields.
18) CTTC - Bhubaneswar signs agreement with ISRO.
  • Central Tool Room and Training Centre (CTTC), Bhubaneswar, has signed an agreement with ISRO for technology transfer and a contract for supply of spacecraft component.
  • Indian Space Research Organization would transfer three types of temperature-sensor technology to CTTC to further strengthen its manufacturing capability.
19) Himachal Pradesh Health Minister launches ambulance mobile app.
  • Himachal Pradesh Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur launched a mobile app for availing immediate and easy access to ambulances in the state. The app named `108 HP` can be downloaded on any Smartphone.
  • The app will make the access to the National Ambulance Service (NAS) much faster and does not require sharing of information such as name and location. Himachal has become the first state in India to launch any such app.
20) Indian government to electrify 1,000 km of rail tracks on pilot basis.
  • Power Ministry is looking to engage Power Grid Corp (PGCIL) to electrify 1,000 km of rail tracks on a pilot basis, as part of plans to energize 35,000 km of unelectrified lines.
  • The electrification project will help the government cut down crude imports and also ensure faster movement of trains on these tracks.
  • In the first phase, the electrification project will cover 16,000 km of busy tracks out of 35,000 km of unelectrified lines in the country. The electrification of tracks will help railways save around Rs. 8,000 crore annually.
21) Education programme for disabled in Delhi govt schools. 
  • Delhi government run and aided schools will now get personal attention with the AAP government special educators to prepare an individualized education programme (IEP).
  • The IEP will include instructions on the teaching procedure.
  • The special education teachers to prepare the IEP of each child with special needs (CWSN) within 15 days, the format of which should cover everything from basic requirements to extra-curricular activities.
22) Indian Govt to set Rs. 1,500 crore fund for solar projects.
  • Government is in the process of setting up an Rs. 1,500 crore fund to in releasing viability gap funding (VGF) to solar power developers under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM).
  • State-run Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) will set up a Rs. 1,500 crore payment security mechanism (PSM) to ensure timely payment of VGF to the developers of solar power capacities under the JNNSM.
23) India and Myanmar sign an MoU in the field of Traditional Medicine.
  • The Ministry of AYUSH signed a MoU on cooperation in the field of Traditional Medicine with the Ministry of Health & Sports of Government of Myanmar in New Delhi.
  • Both countries share a heritage of religious, linguistic and ethnic ties.
24) Mehbooba Mufti launches UJALA scheme in Jammu and Kashmir.
  • Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti launched the central government`s UJALA scheme in the state with the distribution of LED bulbs among people.
  • Under this scheme consumer can buy five LED bulbs at the rate of Rs. 20 each by showing monthly electricity bills or ID cards.
  • The scheme shall bring to the electricity bills of the consumers and has made sincere efforts to ensure that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have access to this national scheme.
25) West Bengal passes resolution to rename the state.
  • The West Bengal Legislative Assembly passed a resolution changing the name of the State to Bengal in English and Bangla in Bengali.
26) HRD Minister Javadekar inaugurates IIT-Dharwad.
  • Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javdekar will today formally launched IIT Dharwad in Dharwad.
  • Located at Walmi centre on the city`s outskirts till its permanent campus is built in the sprawling 470 acres allocated by the government at nearby Kelgeri town, the institute will be mentored by IIT-Bombay over the next three years.
