1) Anirban Lahiri Jumps To 9th Spot At World Golf Championships.

  • Anirban Lahiri added a second successive two-under 70 and jumped to tied ninth spot at the midway stage of the US $9.5 million WGC Golf Cadillac championships.
  • Lahiri, who had three birdies - two of them in last three holes and one bogey, is still six shots behind the leader, Adam Scott, who is looking to make it two wins in two weeks Lahiri broke into the top 100 in the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time in March 2014 following a consistent season which included two victories on the Asian Tour.
  • Lahiri learned to play golf at the age of eight from his father, Dr. Tushar Lahiri, a physician with the armed forces who was also a recreational golfer.

2) Patna Pirates Beat U Mumba to Win 3rd Season Of Pro Kabaddi League.

  • Patna Pirates recorded a maiden title triumph as they once again stamped their authority in the tournament with a victory over U Mumba in the final of Pro Kabaddi League at New Delhi.
  • Rohit Kumar of Patna Pirates was awarded Best Raider and Mohit Chillar of U Mumba the Best Defender of the Match. Rishank Devadiga of U Mumba finished a dream season as the most successful raider with 106 points.
  • The final in the Capital, attended by over 10000 spectators, was a fitting tribute to over a month of enthralling action of Pro Kabaddi.
  • Patna Pirates captured the title and a cash award of Rupees 1 crore as the stadium burst into a frenzy.
     

3) Hyundai Is Now The Official Partner Of BCCI.

  • Hyundai announced a four-year partnership with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
  • The Korean car-maker is now the official partner of the BCCI for all matches to be played over the next four years across the three formats - Test, One day, and T20.
  • Under this agreement, Hyundai cars would be used for transporting various stakeholders of the game throughout the event. Also, promotional activities during tournaments, in-stadia car display and branding are some other key pointers of the deal.

4) Rest of India wins 2015-16 Irani Cup Cricket Title.

  • Rest of India batsmen Showed brilliance as they completed a classic run-chase against Incumbent Ranji Trophy Winners Mumbai, winning the Paytm Irani Cup by 4 wickets reaching a victory target of whooping 480 runs in Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

Paytm Irani Cup 2015-16:

  1. This is the 10th-highest successful chase in the history of First-Class cricket. It was also the third-highest on Indian soil.
  2. Karnataka Opener Karun Nair was named Player of the Match.
  3. Vidarbha’s left-handed opener FaizFazal (127, 280 balls) and Sudeep Chatterjee (54) of Bengal held the innings together for the first part while Karun Nair (92, 132 balls), Stuart Binny (54 off 51 balls), Sheldon Jackson (59 no) Helped taking the team to victory in 129.4 overs.

Irani Cup:

  1. The Trophy has since remained at the end of the season, and is played shortly after the Ranji Trophy final.
  2. The Ranji Trophy Winner will take Rest of India team in the title clash.
  3. The first match, played between the Ranji Trophy champions and the Rest of India was played in 1959-60 with the trophy being instituted in the name of Zal Irani,Who was associated with Board of Control for Cricket in India.

5) Services beat Maharashtra to retain Santosh Trophy.

  • Services won to once again prove their overall supremacy in the national football championship and take home the Santosh Trophy. Since 2012.
  • The four-time champions Services won their fourth Santosh trophy title in their five final appearances.
  • Services received a cheque of Rs. 5 lakhs for retaining the prestigious trophy from the chief guest Devendra Fadnavis, chief minister of Maharashtra.
  • Arjun Tudu was named as the player of the final.

6) Lin Dan Wins his Sixth All England Badminton Championships Title.

  • Lin Dan earned his sixth All England badminton title when he routed Chinese teammate Tian Houwei in the final
  • The sixth championship by badminton`s greatest player came 12 years after his first, and four years after his last, when he went into semi-retirement for two years.

7) Sania-Hingis crash out of Indian Wells Masters.

  • Defending champions Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis crashed out of the Indian Wells Masters after suffering a shock straight sets defeat in the women`s doubles event.
  • The top-seeded Indo-Swiss pair suffered a defeat at the hands of American-Russian duo of Vania King and Alla Kudryavtseva.
  • This was Mirza and Hingis’ first straight-sets loss since the summer of 2015.
