1) North Korea government claimed that it has successfully conducted a hydrogen bomb test. This announcement raised the anxiety among leading countries. This is because a hydrogen bomb is generally more powerful than a nuclear bomb. If this North Korean claim stands true, it will be a breach of the U.N. Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT).

2) Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted test firing of new tank ammunition Pene¬¬tration-Cum Blast (PCB) and Thermobaric (TB) Ammunition, specially designed for Arjun Tank at Chandipur, Odisha on 6th Jan 2016.

 

3) NASA’s revamped planet-hunting Kepler spacecraft has discovered more than 100 confirmed planets orbiting other stars. Kepler, which recently got crippled by a mechanical malfunction, discovered the alien planets during its second-chance K2 mission.
