3) Croatia gets its first women President.

  • Croatia’s first woman president, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, was sworn and pledged to help kickstart the EU member’s ailing economy.
  • The 46 year old conservative former foreign minister and NATO official narrowly defeated her left wing predecessor Ivo josipovic in an election run-off.
2) Mukesh Ambani got Doctorate from Mumbai University.
 
  • Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani has been conferred an honorary Doctor of Science degree by his prestigious Alma Mater, Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai.
  • Ambani is only the fourth person to have been bestowed the honor, according to a company communication to its employees.
  • The previous three honored include Bharat Ratna Dr. CNR Rao, Professor George Whitesides, the most cited scientist in the world, and Padma Vibhushan Professor MM Sharma, legendary chemist and Ambani’s teacher at the institute.

 

3) Madhu Koda got bail.

  • Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda and seven others got bail in a coal block allocation scam case.
  • Additional sessions judge Bharat Parashar granted bail to them on a personal bond of Rs. 1 lakh with one surety of a like amount by each accused.
4) Puvvada Venkatapathi appointed as President of Unisys Federal System.
 
  • IT company Unisys has appointed Indian born Venkatapathi Puvvada as president of Unisys Federal Systems.
  • Puvvada venkatapathi is belongs to Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh. 

5) Thailand filed charges against Yingluck Shinawatra.

  • Thailand’s attorney general filed charges against deposed prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra.
  • Ms. Yingluck is Thailand’s first woman prime minister.
  • She charged with negligence for her role in a rice subsidy scheme that has cost the state billions of dollars.
  • Ms. Yingluck was forced from office last May.
6) Jitan Ram Manji resigned as Bihar CM.
 
  • Jitan Ram Manjhi has resigned as Chief Minister of Bihar hours before a trust vote that he seemed certain to lose, despite the support of the BJP.
  • He handed over the resignation letter to Governer Kesari Nath Tripadi and asked him to disperse the assembly.
7) Squadron Leader Deepika Misra has become the first IAF woman pilot ever to join a formation display team.
 
  • The much heralded helicopter display team ‘Sarang’ of Indian Air Force, now boasts of a women pilot.
  • Deepika Misra has notched up nearly 1,600 hours on Chetak and Cheetah helicopters after her two stints at Bareilly and Udhampur.
  • She was inducted into the indigenously built Advanced Light Helicopter Dhruv display team in june last year.
