1) `Buddha in a Traffic Jam` wins best original screenplay award at the Madrid Film Festival.

 

  • ‘Buddha in a Traffic Jam’ film has won the best original screenplay in a Foreign Language award at the Madrid International Film Festival.
  • The film is a political satire directed by filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri.
  • It stars Arunoday Singh and Mahi Gill in a lead role along with Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi and introduces Anchal Dwivedi.
  • Besides this award category, the film was also nominated in other two categories viz. the Best Foreign Language Film and Best Lead Actress in a Foreign Language Film to actress Mahi Gill in the Madrid International Film Festival.
  • Earlier the movie was premiered in the 2014 edition of Mumbai International Film Festival in the India Gold category.
  • The film was also bestowed awards and was the opening film in the 7th Global Film Festival 2015.


2) Tata Steel’s West Bokaro Division conferred with Golden Peacock Environment Management Award 2015.

 

  • Tata Steel`s West Bokaro Division was conferred with the Golden Peacock Environment Management Award (GPEMA) 2015 in New Delhi.
  • It was presented by the Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Prakash Javadekar to Sanjay Rajoria, General Manager of West Bokaro, Tata Steel of Jharkand.
  • Tata Steel won the coveted award for its responsible environmental practices and resource management while upgrading the skills of employees through training as new technologies evolve.
  • GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd. has been declared as the winner of ‘Golden Peacock Environment Management Award (GPEMA)’ for the year 2015 for achievements in the field of environment management at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.

  2. It is awarded to manufacturing as well as service organizations both in the Public and Private domain located in India.

3) Noted artist Sayed Haider Raza conferred with France’s de la Legion d`Honneur.

 

  • Noted artist Sayed Haider Raza was conferred with highest French Civilian Award Commandeur de la Legion d`Honneur (the Legion of Honour).
  • Raza was bestowed with this award for his peerless achievements in transcending all boundaries, forging ties between France and India and for continuing artistic quest straddling nations, religions, cultures and philosophies.
  • He was bestowed with this award on the occasion of the French National Day (14th July) celebrations by Ambassador of France to India Franois Richier on behalf of the French President.

About la Legion d`Honneur:

 

  1. La Legion d`Honneur (the Legion of Honour) is the highest civilian award given by the French Government.
  2. It is bestowed upon for persons for their outstanding service to France, regardless of the nationality of the recipients.
  3. President of France is the Grand Master of the award.


4) Krishnapatnam Port receives Golden Peacock award for environment management.

 

  • Krishnapatnam Port in Andhra Pradesh has been awarded Golden Peacock environment management award for its achievements and initiatives in the field of environment.
  • The award was presented during the 17th World Congress on Environment Management to C. Sasidhar, Managing Director of Krishnapatnam Port by Union Minister of State for Environment Prakash Javadekar in New Delhi.

5) Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Churachandpur of Manipur won 18th National Youth Parliament Competition.

 

  • Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) of Churachandpur in Manipur won the 18th National Youth Parliament Competition for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas.
  • It was awarded with the Running Parliamentary Shield and Trophy by the Secretary, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs at the prize distribution ceremony held in New Delhi.
  • JNV Churachandpur emerged winner from a list of 64 JNVs spread across 8 regions of Navodaya Vidyalaya Saimiti in the country.

6) Indian-American woman Sunita Viswanath honoured with Champion of Change.

 

  • Sunita Viswanath, an Indian-American woman has been with Champion of Change award by the White House of United States.
  • She is among the 12 other recipients who have been honoured with this award for their continuous efforts in protecting environment and communities from the effects of climate change.
  • She was selected for her work to encourage Hindus to take care of the environment. Sunita is co-founder and active board member of the 14-year-old front-line women`s human rights organisation, Women for Afghan Women.


About Sunita Viswanath:

 

  1. She was born in Chennai, she has been working with women`s and human rights organisations for almost three decades.
  2. Sunita is also co-founder and board member of Sadhana: Coalition of Progressive Hindus, living and building a Hinduism that prioritises social justice, and upholding the Hindu principles of ekatva (oneness), ahimsa (non-violence) and sadhana (faith in action).

7) Indian-origin doctor Shiv Pande receives honorary fellowship in UK.

 

  • Shiv Pande, an Indian origin doctor has been awarded with honorary fellowship by prestigious University of Central Lancashire of United Kingdom.
  • He was awarded with this fellowship in recognition of his contribution to the community as a general practitioner and medical educator.


About Shiv Pande:

 

  1. He was honoured with the award at Preston Guildhall by The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) for his contribution to medical services.
  2. In 1989 for his community work Pande was presented with a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) by the Queen Elizabeth II.
