Selected candidates are trained as mechanical engineers for recruitment in railways. Candidates who clear the written exam have to face a personality test after which the final list of successful candidates is released.
Taking a look at the syllabus, SCRA is not a difficult exam but it is the limited number of seats that make it so tough to crack. The syllabus consists of 11th-12th non-medical syllabus along with General Knowledge and English. The syllabus is actually less than of other competitive exams and taken lesser time to prepare but when the seats are less than 100 and that too has the central quota system there remains very few opportunities for simply talented students.
Anyhow, to prepare for SCRA exams students should do the thorough revision of their syllabus. Sample papers and previous year papers can help a lot in preparing for these exams. Reading your text books along with referring a variety of source like reputed journals magazines, newspapers, topical essays help you a long way in preparing for the GK and English part of the paper.
