JEE Main 2024 Exam Pattern
The Joint Entrance Examination, JEE (Main) comprises two papers. Paper 1 is conducted for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs (B.E/B.Tech.) at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), and Institutions/Universities funded/recognized by participating State Governments. JEE (Main) is also an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is conducted for admission to IITs. Paper 2 is conducted for admission to B. Arch and B. Planning courses in the country.
JEE (Main) – 2023 Session 1 for Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.) will be held on 24, 25, 27, 28, 29, 30, and 31 January 2023 followed by Session 2 on 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11 and 12 April 2023. This is being done to ensure that the JEE (Main) – 2023 does not interfere with the Board examinations, which may be held at different times across the States/UTs. Paper 2A and Paper 2B (B. Arch and B. Planning) will also be held twice a year (January and April 2023).
It has been decided to provide choices in one section of each subject of Paper 1 and Part-I of Paper 2A and 2B to cater to the decision of different Boards across the country regarding the reduction of the syllabus. However, the total number of questions to be attempted will remain the same (Physics – 25, Chemistry – 25, and Mathematics – 25), wherever applicable.
JEE Main Exam Pattern 2024 for BTech/BE (Paper 1)
JEE Main exam for BE/BTech courses consists of 90 MCQs carrying 300 marks. Paper 2A for B.Arch will consist of 82 questions carrying 400 marks and B.Plan will consist of 105 MCQs totaling 400 marks. The exam will be conducted in 13 languages - Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu in addition to Hindi, English, and Gujarati. JEE Main Exam Pattern 2024: Frequently asked Questions
What is the question pattern for JEE 2024?
The pattern of JEE Main 2024 is likely to remain the same. As per the current pattern, JEE Main exam have 90 questions, 30 each from Physics Chemistry and Mathematics. Out of 30 questions, 20 will be MCQ and 10 will be questions with numerical value answers.
Is 75 criteria removed from JEE 2024?
However, the 75 criteria were reintroduced after 2021 as NTA reclaimed it as the eligibility criteria for the JEE 2024 exam. Candidates belonging to the general category must score a minimum of 75 criteria to participate in the Joint Entrance Exam.
How much score is required in JEE Mains for IIT?
Knowing the good score in JEE Main will help candidates preparing for the exam to understand the safe score. A score of 85 to 95 percentile in the JEE main examination is ideal for gaining admission to IITs and NITs.
