UGC announces scheme for award of Post Graduate Scholarships for Professional courses for SC/ST candidates 2014
This scholarship is for the deprived section of the society i.e. Graduate Schedule Caste / Tribe Students and aims at providing an opportunity to undertake post graduate level study through financial assistance Ads by Google
Professional subject such as Engineering & Technology, Management and Pharmacy in any of the Indian University / Institutions / Colleges can be studied under the Post Graduate Scholarships for Professional Courses for SC/ST Candidates for the year 2014-15
Objective
The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to 1000 SC/ST candidates to pursue postgraduate level studies in Professional subjects at recognized Indian Universities/Institutions/Colleges
COURSE AND ELIGIBILITY
Eligibility
The candidate must have obtained Graduate degree in the relevant subject and obtained admission at Postgraduate level for regular full time course in any of the Professional subject in a recognized niversity/Institution/College
Candidates pursuing post graduate course in professional subjects by correspondence or by Distance Education mode are not eligible to receive financial assistance under this scheme
Age limit for the UGC Scholarships The upper age limit for male applicants is 45 years as on 1st July 2014 on the year of application, and 50 years in the case of female candidates. In exceptional cases, the age may be relaxed Reward:
Number of UGC Scholarships to be granted: 1000
Duration of the Post Graduate Scholarships for Professional Courses for SC/ST Candidates for the Year 2014-15 The tenure of the scholarship will be 2-3 years depend upon the remaining years of post graduation course in which student has taken admission Yearly Progress Report: The candidates is required to submit an yearly progress report duly signed by the Head of the Department and Registrar of the University or Head of the Institution or Principal of the College Once the fellowship is awarded the fellow cannot take any / job / employment / fellowship during the tenure of fellowship
CAREER PROSPECTS
Amount of Scholarship:
Scholars selected for M.Tech Course will get Rs.5000/- per month with the contingency of Rs 15,000/- per annum Scholars for other courses will be provided Rs.3000/- per month with the contingency of the Rs 10,000/- per annum Note: Throughout of the allotment procedure, progress of the candidates will be monitored by the head of the department but the Fellowship can be cancelled in case of any The fellowship is liable to cancellation, in case of:
1) Misconduct
2) Unsatisfactory progress of research work
3) Candidate is later found ineligible
PAY PACKAGE
Selection Process:
Selection of Awardees for the scholarship will be made by the UGC expert panel, minutely observing the required qualifying parameters in terms of enclosed documents and considering the merit of the candidates
Note: On Completion of the PG Programme, Awardees have to submit the audited utilization certificates issued by the University/Institution / College where they were enrolled for studies

iii) After applicant submit the duly filled application form along with the documents mentioned below (for online application these documents have to be uploaded)
i) Caste Certificate (SC/ST)
ii) Age proof Certificate (i.e. Class 10 certificate, etc)
iii) Graduation Degree Mark sheet /Certificate iv) Physical Disability Certificate (if applicable) Procedure for monitoring the Progress of the candidate: The progress of the candidate shall be monitored by the head of the department; the candidate is required to submit a yearly progress report duly signed by the Head of the Department and Registrar of the University or Head of the Institution or Principal of the College The scholarship shall stop after the last academic year of the programme (Annexure-V)
