New Delhi: Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has announced the schedule for University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) Exam 2011, to be held on December 18. The Council organizes the UGC NET to select candidates of Indian nationality eligible for being rewarded with Junior Research Fellowships (JRF). The exam also enables the Council to short-list candidates for appointing lecturers in various subject areas categorized under the Faculty of Science.

The Council is organizing the UGC NET Exam 2011 in different areas of science stream, namely, Chemical Sciences, Earth Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, and Physical Sciences. The exam will be conducted from 9.00 am to 12.00 pm and 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm. While the morning session will include papers on Life Sciences and Mathematical Sciences, the afternoon session will test the candidates on Chemical Sciences, Earth Sciences, and Physical Sciences.

The exam, scheduled for December 18, 2011, will be conducted in 26 cities across India. These are Bangalore, Bhavnagar, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Guntur, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jammu, Jamshedpur, Karaikudi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Nagpur, Pilani, Pune, Raipur, Roorkee, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram, Udaipur, and Varanasi. CSIR-UGC NET 2011 will carry 200 marks, comprising of three parts - Part A, B and C.

General Science, Quantitative Reasoning & Analysis and Research Aptitude will constitute Part A, while section B will include subject-related conventional MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions). Part C, on the other hand, will contain questions on scientific concepts and their applications. Being completely analytical, the candidates will be tested on their scientific knowledge in order to solve the questions. An incorrect answer will carry a negative marking of 25%
