Telangana govt signs MoU with Google 23-Aug-2019
hyderabad,Aug 23 Google has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Telangana government to get more local language content online by using the technology giant's digital publishing tool, Navlekha.
According to Google, Navlekha will help digitise the government’s content in Telugu to make it easier for people to get access to all the information and services on government sites in their local language.
“We have identified that availability of content in native language over the internet is essential for all citizens of Telangana to use internet actively. We look forward to collaborating with Google to meet the vision of the internet for all which is part of Digital Telangana, increasing native language content available over the internet and improve the usability of Google Maps in villages and rural regions as well,” said Jayesh Ranjan, principal secretary, Telangana government.
Google India and South Asia Director, Public Policy, Chetan Krishnaswamy, said, “Improving access to Government’s vast pool of information online in local languages can significantly contribute to developing an inclusive web experience for all the citizens. We look forward to working with the state government to develop an enabling environment and helping bring benefits of the internet to every citizen.”
Navlekha, launched in 2018 at the fourth edition of 'Google for India' event, is currently open for Hindi and Telugu offline publishers. It helps registered Indian language publishers create an online presence by rendering any PDF with Indian language content into editable text. This would overcome issues that usually occur when one tries to copy text in Indian languages from a PDF.
At the launch, a Google spokesperson had said that 90 per cent of 135,000 print publishers in India do not have websites yet, and it aims to bring this number online. With Navlekha, Google says, publishers will receive essential services to build a website for free for three years. They will receive a domain name, AdSense support to monetise their content and also training and support by the tech giant.

TS Inter board released revised Political Science (Civics) text books 6-Jul-2019
hyderabad,Jul 6 Telangana Intermediate board released revised Political Science (Civics) text books for 1st year Intermediate today by the Secretary, TSBIE. The Director, Telugu Academy and all the officers of the TSBIE were present.
The Syllabii and textbooks of II languages viz: Urdu, Hindi, Sanskrit and Arabic of II year Intermediate and the syllabii of Humanities textbooks of 1st Year Intermediate viz: Commerce, Economics, Public Administration, History & Geography were released in the first week of June for the Academic Year 2019-20.
The new textbooks of these subjects are available in the market. The Subject of 'Civics' is not offered at the +2 Level in the CBSE & ICSE. It does not even find its place in other State Educational Boards of India at +2 Level. Further Universities like Delhi University is not considering the Subject 'Civics' as 'Political Science' and denied admissions for Under graduate courses like BA (Honours) Political Science.
Hence the TSBIE has changed the name of the 'Civics' subject as 'Political Science'. However, the failed candidates are permitted to appear in these subjects with old syllabii textbooks in the ensuing Intermediate Public Examinations, March, 2020 and Advanced Supplementary Intermediate Public Examinations, May/June 2020 only.
Amma Vodi scheme is applicable for Intermediate students also 28-Jun-2019
amaravati,Jun 28 In a major initiative, state government has decided to extend Amma Vodi scheme to the intermediate students. An annual financial assistance of Rs.15000 will be granted to each mother who sends her wards to school or college, under Amma Vodi scheme. Although, the scheme was originally devised to support up to high school education, chief minister Y S Jagan has directed the education department officials to extend the scheme for intermediate education.
CM reviewed the various issues pertaining to the strengthening of education system in the state with the senior officials on Thursday. During the discussion over Amma Vodi, CM sprang a surprise by asking the officials to bring the intermediate education too into Amma Vodi bracket. He said that he had promised to the parents during his padayatra that he would take care of the burden of children’s education and hence confining Amma vodi up to high school studies was not correct. He said that he was ready to spare any amount of budget to the scheme and asked the officials to ready the blue-print.
Speaking to the media after the review, HRD minister Adimulapu Suresh said that CM had directed them to implement the scheme up to intermediate education. “We will cover all the students who are studying in government, social welfare residential and private colleges under Amma Vodi. White card will be the only criteria to get the financial assistance under Amma Vodi,” said Suresh. He said that they would shortly submit their budget requirement proposals to the finance department.
