THE USE OF THE INDEFINITE ARTICLE<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The basic meaning of the Indefinite Article is \u2018one\u2019. Thererfore, it can be used only before the singular countable nouns The Definite Article, on the other hand, can be used before the singular or plural countable nouns and even before the uncountable nouns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When to use \u2018a\u2019 or \u2018an\u2019 depends on the sound, not the letter that begins the following word. \u2018An\u2019 is used before words that begin with a vowel sound \u2018A\u2019 is used before words that begin with a consonant sound Pronunciation plays the key role in deciding the use of \u2018a\u2019 \/ \u2018an\u2019.
