Mondo Duplantis set world record at the World Athletics Indoor Tour meeting:

American-born Swedish pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis set a world record by soaring 6.17 meters on his second attempt at the World Athletics Indoor Tour meeting held in Torun, Poland on 8 February. He achieved this feat in his second attempt at the height and sixth jump of the competition.

He broke Olympic champion Renaud Lavillenie`s record of 6.16m which was set in February 2014 in Donetsk, Ukraine. He represented his mother`s native country of Sweden.

Mondo Duplantis:

In 2019 he broke the NCAA indoor and outdoor records and won the NCAA indoor championship. In October 2019, Duplantis won a silver medal in the pole vault at the 2019 IAAF World Championships in Doha, Qatar.

FIH named Lalremsiami as the 2019 FIH Womens Rising Star of the Year: 

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has named India forward Lalremsiami as the 2019 FIH Women`s Rising Star of the Year. She won 40% of all the votes cast. She got 47.7% of her votes from among national associations and the media, fans/players contributed 28.4% and 36.4% respectively.

She came ahead of Argentina`s Julieta Jankunas and Frederique Matla of the Netherlands, who finished second and third, respectively.

Lalremsiami:

Lalremsiami is from Kolasib in Mizoram. She gained popularity at the 2018 Vitality Hockey Women`s World Cup. She also scored top score when the team played a test series against Korea in 2017 and against Spain in 2019. Despite her father`s death, in 2019, she played at the FIH Series Finals in Hiroshima to qualify for the Olympics Games Tokyo 2020.
