Kamov-226T: Utility Helicopters is to be Waived

For a waiver to send the Kamov-226T (Ka-226T) utility helicopters to Russia, the Indian Army will approach the Defense Ministry. In 2015, an Inter-Governmental Agreement (IGA) was signed by India and Russia to purchase 200 Ka-226T helicopters.
 
Highlights:
♦ An Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) was signed by India and Russia in 2015 to purchase 200 Ka-226T helicopters, estimated to be worth more than USD 1 billion.
♦ The Kamov-226T is designed to replace the Indian Army and Air Force`s Cheetah and Chetak fleets.
♦ Ka-226T is the design of the famous Kamov Design Bureau in Russia.
♦ This is a light helicopter with a maximum take-off weight of 3.5 tonnes or more and a maximum payload of 1 tonne.
♦ The Ka-226T uses a coaxial rotor, which in high altitude conditions is particularly beneficial.
♦ The Ka-226T also has a special, removable "mission" cabin that allows the helicopter to adapt to various tasks, such as surveillance and delivery of cargo.
