New Defence Intelligence Agency Head: Lt General GAV Reddy:
Lieutenant General GAV Reddy has been named the new Director-General of the Defence Intelligence Agency.
Highlights:
- Lieutenant General GAV Reddy has been named the new Director-General of the Defence Intelligence Agency.
- Lt Gen KJS Dhillon would be succeeded by General Reddy. Lieutenant General KJS Dhillon retired from the Indian Army after 39 years of service in various important positions.
- The Director-General of the Defence Intelligence Agency is the agency`s chief and one of the Minister of Defence`s and Chief of Defence Staff`s primary intelligence advisors.
- The director general`s position is rotated among the three Armed Services.
- Lt Gen Kamal Davar, a former director-general of the Indian Army`s Mechanized Forces, was the DIA`s first Director-General.
- Lt Gen Reddy was a graduate of the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington and has held a variety of senior command and staff positions.
- After graduating from the Officers Training Academy in Chennai, Lt Gen Reddy was appointed into the 9th Battalion of the Jat Regiment on March 8, 1986.
