PR Sreejesh, an Indian men`s hockey player, has been named World Games Athlete of the Year for 2021.

- Rani Rampal, the Indian women`s hockey captain, became the first Indian to win the award in 2020 for her achievements 2019.
- Based on individual or team accomplishments, the yearly awards were nominated by 24 athletes from 17 countries.
- The runners-up are Spanish wushu player Alberto Ginés López and Italian wushu player Michele Giordano.
- Sreejesh was selected goalie of the year for 2021 at the FIH Stars Awards in October.
- Sreejesh was the lone Indian nominated, and the International Hockey Federation recommended him (FIH).
