Over 1,65,000 lakh farmers across India have been registered on e-NAM:
Government said that over 1,65,000 lakh farmers across India have been registered on the National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) platform. The announcement was made by the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar.
Report highlights:
♦ 585 wholesale regulated markets have been integrated with e-NAM platform.
♦ An additional of 415 markets have been approved for integration with it.
♦ Till November 2019, 2,99,000 metric tonnes of agri-commodities have been recorded on e-NAM platform.
♦ The government promotes the inter-state trade and inter mandi trade through e-NAM platform. It adds the states that have been advised to strengthen quality assaying facilities in e-NAM for proper quality testing of commodities, e-trading, online payment facility.
Centre launched EChO Network to provide a template for cross-disciplinary leadership:
Government of India launched EChO Network in New Delhi on 19 December 2019. It was launched by Prof. K Vijay Raghavan, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India.
Aim:
EChO Network aims to promote environmental and ecological research in the country.
EChO Network:
♦ EChO Network is a national program that aims to provide a template for cross-disciplinary leadership in India
♦ It focuses to increase research, knowledge, and awareness of Indian ecology and the environment
♦ It aims to create people who can listen to the natural world and tackle real-world problems in the fields of ecology, medicine, agriculture, and technology.
♦ the Network will identify gaps in knowledge regarding selected topics in human and environmental ecosystems.
♦ The program will train postdoctoral leaders in research and outreach on these topics and incorporate current public and private efforts into a national network
♦ It would establish nation-wide awareness in these issues through public discourse and education for citizens, industry, and government with information exchange at all educational levels
♦ The Network intends to create an international distributed institute comprising individuals housed within the industry, government, private, and academic sectors, combining their expertise and resources collectively to tackle large scale problems.

Delhi Dialogue-XI got underway at Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra in New Delhi.
The theme for this year’s Delhi Dialogue is Advancing Partnership in Indo-Pacific.
The notion of shared maritime space is not new.
Mr Muraleedharan hoped that the discussions in the Dialogue will yield a rich harvest of ideas.
Six coal mines marked for end-use under allotment process: Govt:
The Coal Ministry is considering allotment of six coal mines that have been marked for end-uses like power, iron and steel and sale of coal.
The applications were received in the case of six out of 15 coal mines, for which it had initiated the auction process for various specified end-uses like Power, Sale of Coal and Iron & Steel.
The mines will add over 5 million tonnes coal per annum to the country`s coal output besides reducing the dependence of industries on imported coal.
Defence Minister chairs Parliament`s meeting of Consultative Committee:
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired a meeting of the Consultative Committee of Parliament for the Ministry of Defence in New Delhi.
The subject of the meeting was Border Roads Organisation-BRO.
Director General BRO Lt Gen Harpal Singh gave a detailed presentation on the working of the organisation, especially on maintaining operational road infrastructure for the armed forces in border areas.
Defence Minister lauded the efforts of BRO in building border infrastructure and contributing to the improvement of lives of people residing in the border areas.
