MAT 2023 - Management Aptitude Test Exam:
Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a standardised National Level test being administered since 1988 to facilitate Business Schools (B-Schools) to screen candidates for admission to MBA and allied programmes. Govt. of India, Ministry of Education approved MAT as a national level test in 2003. Any B-School - national or international - can consider MAT Score as an admission input based on the Score Cards issued to the candidates. The largest test of its kind in the nation, MAT will continue to be your passport to over 600 B-Schools across India.
MAT is conducted in both paper-based and computer-based modes. The test generally consists of sections like Language Comprehension, Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning, and Indian and Global Environment. MAT is usually conducted four times a year, in February, May, September, and December.

MODE OF TEST
(How to take the Test)- Candidate can take MAT as
- (i) Remote Proctored Internet Based Test (IBT) or
- (ii) Paper Based Test (PBT) or
- (iii) Computer Based Test (CBT) or
- (iv) Paper Based Test and Remote Proctored Internet Based Test (PBT+IBT) or
- (v) Double Remote Proctored Internet Based Test (IBT+IBT) or
- (vi) Computer Based Test and Remote Proctored Internet Based Test (CBT+IBT) or
- (vii) Paper Based Test and Computer Based Test (PBT+CBT) or
- (viii) Double Computer Based Test (CBT+CBT)
- Candidates can opt for an additional mode of test (e.g. IBT+IBT, PBT+CBT, IBT+PBT, IBT+CBT, CBT+CBT) by paying an extra fee of ₹1200/- in addition to ₹2100/-.
- Candidates opting for additional test will have the benefit of selecting additional 2 Management Institutes for sending their scores in addition to existing option of selecting 5 Management Institutes i.e. they can select 7 Management Institutes in total.
MAT Exam Pattern 2023
MAT is conducted in both paper-based (PBT) and computer-based (CBT) modes. Candidates can choose the mode that suits them:
- The total number of questions may vary, but historically, there have been around 200 questions.
- Each correct answer is usually awarded 1 mark. However, there may be variations in the marking scheme.
- The total duration of the exam is usually around 150 minutes.
- Some versions of MAT have a penalty for incorrect answers. AIMA may or may not have negative marking, so it's essential to check the specific details for the year you are interested in.

- If you are a new user, you need to register on the official website.
- After logging in, complete the CMAT application form with accurate and updated information.
- Scan and upload the required documents, including your passport-sized photograph and signature.
- Pay the application fee through the available payment options.
- Choose centers that are convenient for you to travel to on the exam day.
- After successful submission, download and print the confirmation page.

- Important Notice: Candidates are advised to check the approval/recognition status of various programs directly from the concerned Authorities/ Institutes/ Universities.
- AIMA has come across a couple of cases where the aspiring candidates' MAT score is not accepted by some participating institutes/universities for admission to MBA full time course despite their confirmation to AIMA MAT at the time of participation by incorporating their notifications in MAT e bulletin. Candidates are advised to recheck with the concerned institutes/universities before applying for MAT.
