what after round 1 josaa seat allocation
After the JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) Round 1 seat allocation, you have a few options depending on your situation and preferences:- Accept the Offer: If you received a seat allocation in your preferred institute and course, you can choose to accept the offer. This means you are satisfied with the allocation and willing to join the allotted institution. Follow the instructions provided by JoSAA to complete the acceptance process within the given deadline.
Pay Fee: whether you are interested or not once the seat is confirmed you are supposed to pay the fee with immediate effect, if not you are permanently disqualified for JOSAA counseling for this year. - Wait for Further Rounds: If you did not receive your desired seat allocation in Round 1 or if you have a higher preference that you hope to secure in subsequent rounds, you can choose to wait for further rounds of seat allocation. In this case, you should not accept the offer in Round 1, as accepting an offer will make you ineligible for further rounds.
- Float or Slide: JoSAA provides options called "Float" and "Slide" that allow you to consider higher preference choices while retaining your current allocation. If you want to explore higher preference choices while still keeping your allocated seat as a backup, you can select the Float or Slide option during the subsequent rounds. Float allows you to consider higher preference choices in any institute, while Slide allows you to consider higher preference choices within the same institute.
- Participate in Special Rounds: JoSAA conducts special rounds after the regular seat allocation process. These rounds include the spot round and other additional rounds for filling vacant seats. If you are not satisfied with your allocation or did not get any allocation in the regular rounds, you can participate in these special rounds and try to secure a seat.

Filling-In Of Choices Of Academic Programs
- For filling-in of choices of academic programs in various Institutes, candidates should login to the portal http://josaa.nic.in using the JEE (Main) 2023 Application Number and password.
- Filling-in of choices on the online portal is free of cost, i.e., candidates are NOT required to pay any fee.
- A candidate may be eligible for seat allocation based on one, two or all three examinations viz., JEE (Advanced) 2023, JEE (Main) 2023 Paper-1 (B.E. / B.Tech.) and JEE (Main) 2023 Paper-2 (B.Arch. / B.Planning). Even for candidates who are eligible to participate in Joint Seat Allocation based on any two or all three of the above examinations, only ONE seat from among the choices filled-in is made available. Hence, it is important for candidates to carefully prioritize the academic programs while filling-in the choices.
- Candidates are given a 10-day window to fill-in their choice which includes 2 mock seat allocations on the 7 th and 9 th day. This 10-day window will NOT be extended. During this period, each candidate must fill choices carefully – (s)he must select only those academic programs in her/his choices which (s)he is willing to join. Candidates should take advantage of the mock seat allocations and choose as many academic programs as possible that they are willing to join in the order of preference.
- Candidates MUST “lock” their choices on/before the last day of choice filling. If candidates do NOT lock their choices, last saved choices will be locked automatically upon reaching the deadline for choice filling. Candidates will NOT be allowed to edit their choice list after the deadline for choice filling, i.e. candidates CANNOT change the order of their choices OR add any more course in OR delete any course from their choice list after the deadline for choice filling.
