NCAVES India Forum Organized by Union Ministry:
The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation is organizing the NCAVES (Natural Capital Accounting & Valuation of Ecosystem Services) India Forum for the year 2021.
Highlights:
♦ Project NCAVES is sponsored by the European Union and (EU). NCAVES is implemented collectively by the following agencies: the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) Secretariat.
♦ Subsequent agencies are implemented in India: the Ministry of Statistics and Planning and then, in close cooperation, the Ministry of Atmosphere, Forests & Global Climate Change (MoEF&CC) and therefore the National Remote Sensing Center (NRSC).
♦ India is one of five participating countries in this initiative. China, Brazil, South Africa, and Mexico are additional participating nations.
♦ Participation in the project will help to compile environmental accounts in compliance with the UN-SEEA process and also help to publish environmental accounts once a year from 2018 in its "EnviStats India" publication.
♦ Under the NCAVES project, the India-EVL tool was developed.
♦ This is an investigative tool that offers an analysis of the importance of diverse ecosystem resources funded by approximately 80 studies performed around the nation in many states of the world.
