Bajrang Punia conferred the Indian Personality of the Year Award:

Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia has been conferred the Indian Personality of the Year Award (Sports) at the Indo Arab Leaders Summit & Awards 2019 in Dubai. Also, World powerlifting champion Mahant Gaurav Sharma was honoured with the Visionary Leaders of the Year (Sports) award. 

Indo Arab Leaders Summit & Awards 2019:

Indo Arab Leaders Summit and Awards ceremony was held on 15th November 2019 at Marriott Hotel Al Jaddaf, Dubai. The award aims to provide recognition for companies and individuals implementing outstanding initiatives across Asia. The award recognizes the achievements made by selected high profile personalities and leaders. It honours their great contributions to the country`s economic development.

Indian Naval Academy at Ezhimala received the Presidents Colour award:

President Ram Nath Kovind awarded the President`s Colour to Indian Naval Academy at Ezhimala, Kerala, on 20 November. The award recognizes the yeoman service that was rendered by the institution in training and shaping Indian Naval officers over the last fifty years at three different locations, namely Kochi, Goa, and Ezhimala.

Event highlights:

♦ The special event was marked by a parade by the cadets of INA.

♦ A special postal cover was also released to commemorate the occasion.

♦ Participants: The event will be attended by several dignitaries, including the Governor of Kerala, Chief of the Naval Staff, Members of Parliament, State Ministers, and Senior Officers of the Indian Navy.

Indian Naval Academy:

The Naval Academy was first established at Kochi in 1969 temporarily. In 1986, the strength of the trainees increased, and the institution was relocated to INS Mandovi at Goa. On 8 January 2009, the Indian Naval Academy at Ezhimala was inaugurated, and the INA found its permanent home at Ezhimala, Kerala.

Note: President`s Colour is the highest honour that is bestowed upon a military unit of the Indian Armed Forces.

Virat Kohli awarded the 2019 Person of the Year by PETA India: 

Indian captain Virat Kohli was awarded People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India`s Person of the Year for 2019. He was awarded for his animal advocacy efforts.

Kohli:

Kohli took efforts to improve conditions for animals. One of such includes sending a letter on PETA India`s behalf to officials for the release of Malti, an elephant. Malti was used for rides at Amer Fort. It was violently beaten by eight men.

He regularly visited an animal shelter in Bengaluru to check on injured and formerly neglected dogs there. He has been sending messages to his fans to adopt animals instead of buying them.
