 1. Famous classical singer Pandit Arun Bhaduri passed away Famous classical singer 

Pandit Arun Bhaduri passed away at the age of 75, after a prolonged illness. 
Pandit Arun Bhaduri was born on 7th October 1943 in Murshidabad, West Bengal. He was a Hindustani Classical Music and Semi-Classical Music Vocalist, initially tutored by Mohammed A. Daud Khan. Points to Remember .
Pandit Arun Bhaduri was an exponent on Kirana and Rampur Gharana. 
In 2014, he was awarded Banga Bibhushan Samman. He also won many other awards.
 
2. Madhavi Divan appointed as the new Additional Solicitor General
 
The Union government has appointed advocate Madhavi Goradia Divan as the Additional Solicitor General (ASG) in the government of India. 
She will hold office of ASG till 30 June, 2020 and will appear in the Supreme Court on behalf of the government of India.
She is the third woman to be appointed as ASG in the apex court.
Senior lawyer Indira Jaising was the first woman ASG. Pinky Anand, the second woman lawyer to hold the post, is still in office. 
Divan, who is not a designated senior advocate, has been appointed by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
Divan is a law graduate from University of Cambridge, UK, and started her career in the Bombay High Court and later moved to the Supreme Court where she represented Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. 
 
3. Hamid Nahal Ansari meets EAM Sushma Swaraj 
 
Indian national Hamid Nehal Ansari who returned to India after languishing in Pakistani jails for over six years, met External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi.
Hamid`s mother thanked Government of India and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for rescuing her son.   
33-year-old Ansari was arrested for illegally entering Pakistan from Afghanistan, reportedly to meet a girl he met online. 
In 2015, a Pakistani military court sentenced him to three years in prison for possessing a fake Pakistani ID card.
 
4. Belgium PM Charles Michel resigns over migration spat

 

 
Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel has resigned amid pressure on his government over his support for the UN global pact on migration.
The pressure increased after Michel lost the backing of coalition partner nationalist New Flemish Alliance over his support for a UN migration deal signed in Marrakech last week.
His move follows angry demonstrations in Brussels against the UN pact.
He announced his resignation following a debate in parliament in which opposition parties refused calls to support his minority government. 
While Belgium was due to go to the polls next May, his decision now raises the possibility of early elections. 
Michel, 42, took office in October 2014 after forming a right-wing coalition, becoming at 38 the country`s youngest prime minister since 1841.
 
5. Philippines contestant Catriona Gray named Miss Universe

 

 

 
Catriona Gray of Philippines clinched Miss Universe 2018 crown beating contestants from 93 other countries. 
Gray edged out first runner-up Tamaryn Green of South Africa and third-placed Sthefany Gutierrez of Venezuela. She succeeds Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters of South Africa. Gray is the fourth Filipina to be named Miss Universe.
 
6. Nepal: Former PM Tulsi Giri passes away at 93
 
Former Prime Minister of Nepal Tulsi Giri passed away at his residence in Kathmandu on Tuesday. He was 93. 
Dr. Giri was suffering from liver cancer for a long time and he was recently discharged from the hospital. 
Dr. Giri had a long political career. He twice served as the prime minister of Nepal first from 1962 to 1964 and again from 1975 to 1977. 
Nepal`s Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli, former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and other senior leaders from various political parties have expressed condolences on Dr. Giri`s demise.
