The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has introduced a Quick Response (QR) code for its GI-tagged Kashmiri carpet.
 
Highlights:
 
  • To maintain the authenticity and validity of the hand-knotted carpets, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has created a rapid response (QR) code for its GI-tagged Kashmiri carpet. The primary goal of the QR Code affixed to the GI tag is to aid in the revival of the Kashmiri carpet industry`s gloss and splendor.

  • The QR code will include information about the artisans, the manufacturer, the weaver, the district, the raw materials utilized, and so forth.
  • Because the QR code label cannot be copied or misused, it will deter the creation of counterfeit carpets.
  •  
  • Meanwhile, on March 11, 2022, the first-ever consignment of GI-tagged hand-knotted carpets was sent from New Delhi to Germany.

India Becomes Largest Importer Of Arms As Per SIPRI

 
The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute has published Trends in International Arms Transfer, 2021. (SIPRI).
 
Highlights:
 
  • Trends in "International Arms Transfer, 2021" is the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). 
  • According to the research, India and Saudi Arabia were the significant arms importers between 2017 to 2021. Both countries were responsible for 11% of all worldwide arms sales. 
  • The following three major importers in the top five were Egypt (5.7 percent), Australia (5.4 percent), and China (4.8 percent).
  • According to the research, India is at the top of the list. Three countries accounted for 85 percent of India`s total imports. 
  • During this time, the top three significant exporters of armaments to India were Russia (46%), France (27%), and the United States (12%).

  • The Aam Aadmi Party romped home, winning 92 seats within the 117-member Punjab Assembly, decimating the Congress and the SAD-BSP combined.
  • Chanting `Jo Bole So Nihal` and `Bharat Mata Ki Jai,` Bhagwant Mann thanked those who attended the swearing-in ceremony. 
  • Mann ended his speech with `Inquilab Zindabad` (long live the revolution).
  • Besides newly-elected AAP MLAs, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other senior party leaders were also present at the ceremony. 
  • Among other leaders present at the ceremony are Deputy CM of Delhi Manish Sisodia and Delhi environment minister Gopal Rai.
