 1st Intercity e-Mobility Prototype Program by NHEV

 
The National Highway for Electric Vehicles (NHEV) is a non-profit dedicated to the electrification of India`s transportation systems.
 
Highlights:
  • By 2020, NHEV will be the first intercity e-mobility prototype program under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to enable Ease of Doing Business through Single Window Clearance. 
  • It is based on Ministry of Power reforms to establish Charging Stations on National Highways with minimal capital and operational costs long-term. 
  • NHEV is advocating for public charging stations across the country. Along the Jaipur-Delhi-Agra E-highway, NHEV is building a green charging station.
  • In Gurugram, NHEV launched India`s largest EV charging station. 
  • It features 121 electric vehicle chargers and can charge up to 1000 cards in a single day. It was set up in a month, which is a world record. 
  • Gurugram became the first city in India to have the top two EV charging stations with this new EV charging station.
  • A working group from NHEV has met with NITI Aayog to discuss the new battery swapping strategy on 07 March 2022.
  • These NHEV measures to encourage e-mobility will have several advantages, including cleaner air, fewer fuel imports, and the promotion of new business prospects.

PARAM Ganga, a petascale supercomputer at IIT Roorkee

 
As part of the National Supercomputing Mission, PARAM Ganga is a petascale supercomputer created in India and installed at IIT Roorkee (NSM)
 
Highlights:
  • PARAM GANGA has a 1.66 PFLOPS supercomputing capacity (Peta Floating-Point Operations per Second). 
  • C-DAC was in charge of designing and commissioning it as part of the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM).
  • The critical components for PARAM GANGA and an indigenous software stack developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing are manufactured and assembled in India (C-DAC).
  • The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeiTY) and the Department of Science and Technology have collaborated on the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM) (DST).
  • The C-DAC and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore are working on it.
  • C-DAC is in charge of designing, developing, and commissioning the supercomputing system. The mission`s purpose is to help India create its supercomputing environment.

 India`s Largest Floating Solar Power Project In Tamil Nadu

 
M K Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, has inaugurated India`s largest floating solar power plant, which cost Rs.150.4 crores.
 
Highlights:
  • M K Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, has inaugurated India`s largest floating solar power plant, which cost Rs 150.4 crores to build. 
  • The floating plant would offer clean energy at the Southern Petrochemicals Industries Corporation Limited (SPIC) factory in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. 
  • Its goal is to deliver environmentally sustainable energy generation while lowering carbon emissions.
  • The floating power station can generate 42 million kilowatt-hours of electricity each year.
  • Greenam Energy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of AM International, owns the solar power plant.
  • For the structures and designs, SPIC collaborated with Ceil & Terre, a global leader in floating solar power.
