2) Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar Arrested.

• Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar of the Aam Aadmi Party, arrested by the Delhi Police, has been taken to a Saket court after being held at a police station for several hours. In court, the police has asked for five-day custody of Mr. Tomar.
• A case of cheating, forgery and conspiracy has been filed against Mr Tomar, who has been accused of faking degrees.

• India-born Padmasree Warrior, one of Silicon Valley`s high-profile female executives, has stepped down from her post of Chief Technology Officer at global IT giant Cisco after a significant restructuring of top management under incoming CEO Chuck Robbins.
• Ms. Warrior, 54, had joined Cisco in 2008 and had served as chief technology officer and senior vice-president of engineering during her seven years at the company.

• Warrior is an alumnus of the IIT-Delhi and Cornell University.
• She is one of Silicon Valley’s high-profile female executives and has been honored with numerous leadership awards.
• In recently released Forbes Magazine’s 12th annual list of World’s 100 most powerful women she was placed at 84th position.

3) Dr. Bimal K Roy removed as Director of Indian Statistical Institute (ISI).

• Dr. Bimal K. Roy was removed as the Director of Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) by the Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOSPI).
• He was removed from the position one-and-a-half months before the end of his term.
• He was replaced by director-designate Prof S Bandyopadhayay.
• The ministry accused him of indiscipline and removed him on a reasonable apprehension that he may indulge in propagation of indiscipline and mischief, including acts of administrative and financial impropriety in the interregnum.

• China`s former security chief Zhou Yongkang was sentenced by a court to life imprisonment for accepting bribes worth $21.3 million and “deliberately disclosing state secrets".
• Zhou, is the highest ranking politician to be sent to jail for life in China.

• C.S. Verma has relinquished the charge as chairman and managing director on completion of his tenure and steel secretary Rakesh Singh has assumed the charge till a regular incumbent is appointed.
• Verma was appointed CMD of the country`s largest steel producer for a five-year term in June 2010 by the previous UPA government.

6) Dick Costolo Resigns as Twitter CEO.

• Dick Costolo resigned as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Twitter Inc after serving the company for five years.
• Under the technological leadership of Costolo, Twitter had evolved from a startup to a public company.
• He was also had pioneered for introducing Twitter’s famous 140 character messaging service which had gained cultural prominence and had become a powerful tool for worldwide celebrities, activists and citizen journalists to propagate their views.

• James Harrison, 78, has given blood more than 1000 times, after discovering as a teen he has a rare antibody that can save babies from Rhesus disease.
• The 78-year-old Australian has saved the lives of more than two million babies by rolling up his sleeves.
• The exceptional antibodies in Mr. Harrison`s blood plasma have thwarted a deadly disease that killed thousands of Australian babies every year until the 1960s.

1. Women were having multiple miscarriages; babies were stillborn or born with severe brain damage, fatal anaemia and jaundice. For decade’s scientists were baffled, until they discovered that the condition was caused when a pregnant woman`s blood attacked the blood cells of her unborn baby.
2. Rhesus disease occurs when a mother has rhesus-negative blood (RhD-negative) and her fetus inherits the father`s RhD-positive blood type.
3. Scientists discovered Mr Harrison`s blood contained the rare combination of RhD-negative blood and anti-D antibodies.
4. Very few people have those antibodies and they are very strong in James. His body produces a lot of them and when he donates his body produces more. That`s what makes him a very special case.

• The International Criminal Court has called for South Africa to arrest Sudan’s President Omar al-Bashir, who is reported to have arrived in Johannesburg for a summit of the African Union.
• Bashir is wanted, over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during the Darfur conflict dating back to 2003.
