India plans to host 2021 BRICS Games:

 
India plans to host the 2021 BRICS Games which will be paired with next year`s Khelo India Games. This announcement came after sports minister Kiren Rijiju attended a meeting of the BRICS nations` sports ministers (Brazil, Russia, India , China and South Africa). In 2021, India will be given the chairmanship of the international independent group of five nations.
 
The BRICS Games 2021 will be played concurrently and at the same venues as the Khelo India Games 2021, so that our players from different parts of the world who will be gathering for the Khelo India Games will be able to see BRICS Games from near quarters.

WHO declared Wild Polio free for Africa:

 
The statutory body, the Africa Regional Certification Board, has proclaimed Africa free from wild polio. The announcement was made during an event of the World Health Organization (WHO), by the African National Certification Commission for disease control.
Highlights:
The Africa Global Certification Commission reported that Polio has been eradicated in all 47 countries in the WHO Africa region. Commonly, the poliovirus affects the nervous system and induces permanent paralysis in hours.
Nigeria was the last state in Africa to be declared free of wild polio. Less than a decade ago, Nigeria accounted for over half of all global events.
The virus has crippled thousands of children in Africa. Now the disease is present only in Afghanistan and Pakistan. There is no cure but the vaccination toward polio prevents kids for life.
Polio:
Polio is Poliovirus-caused disease. The virus is affecting the nervous system. Polio is also called poliomyelitis. Polio is a disease caused by the Poliovirus virus. It is very infectious. It is distributed mainly through person-to-person communication. Children younger than five years of age are developing the virus than any other age group.Poliovirus spreads by means of food or water containing human feces and less commonly from infected saliva.

Defense minister Rajnath Singh has launched the DGNCC Mobile Training App for NCC Training:

On 27 August, Union Minister for Defense Rajnath Singh unveiled the Mobile Training Device of the Directorate General National Cadet Corps (DGNCC). The Mobile Application will help in performing National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadet training online across the world.
 
DGNCC Mobile Training App:
  • The DGNCC Mobile Training App will help the NCC cadets in digital learning and resolve the challenges COVID-19 presents due to restrictions on direct physical interactions.
  • The training app is designed to provide NCC cadets with complete training material on one platform, including syllabus, training videos, authentic, and frequently asked questions.
  • The App was interactively developed by providing a query option. With this option a cadet may post his training syllabus-related question and a panel of trained instructors will answer the same.
  • The app is considered to be a successful step in the direction of automating NCC preparation. The move is in line with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi `s dream of Digital India.
  • The mobile app will assist the NCC cadets by making training material easier to reach during these pandemic test periods.
