 Noida International Airport Inaugurated By PM Modi

 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for Noida International Airport (NIA) in Gautam Buddh Nagar on November 25, 2021.
 
PM Modi came to Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, accompanied by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia, to lay the groundwork.
♦ Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the project`s Swiss concessionaire Zurich International Airport AG, is developing the airport near Jewar.
 
 
Noida International Airport has an area of more than 1300 hectares. After completion, the airport`s first phase will service around 1.2 crore people per year. The first phase of the project is expected to be finished in 2024.
♦ The Noida International Airport is being built under the PPP model by Yamuna International Airport Pvt Ltd (YIAPL) in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh Government and the Indian Government.
♦ The project`s estimated cost is between Rs 1500 and Rs 20000 crore. The project`s first phase is being built at a cost of roughly Rs 10,050 crore.
♦ The airport is 72 kilometres from Delhi`s Indira Gandhi International Airport and 40 kilometres from Noida.

National Current Affairs November 2nd Week 2021

 Purvanchal Expressway Launched By PM

 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Purvanchal Express, a 341-kilometer train line in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
 
Highlights:
♦ The highway, which connects the state capital of Lucknow with Ghazipur, is expected to cost Rs 22,500 crore to build.
♦ In a military transport plane, PM Modi arrived at the Purvanchal Expressway airfield. 
♦ The Expressway`s main feature is a 3.2-kilometer-long airstrip that allows Indian Air Force fighter jets to land and take off in an emergency.
 
Purvanchal Expressway:
♦ The Purvanchal Expressway runs from village Chaudsarai in the Lucknow district to Haidaria village, 18 kilometres east of the Uttar Pradesh-Bihar border, on National Highway 31.
♦ The expressway is now six lanes wide, although it can be extended to eight lanes in the future.
♦ The eastern region of Uttar Pradesh, particularly the districts of Lucknow, Barabanki, Amethi, Ayodhya, Sultanpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Mau, and Ghazipur, would benefit from this highway.

 Pochampally One of the Best Tourism Villages

Pochampally in Telangana has been chosen as one of the top tourism villages in the state.

 

Highlights:

♦ The United Nations World Tourism Organization named Pochampally hamlet in Telangana`s Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district as one of the top tourism villages.

♦ Pochampally is recognised for its famous hand-woven Ikat saris (UNWTO). 

♦ The prize will be presented on December 2 at the UNWTO`s 24th General Assembly in Madrid.

♦ The UNWTO pilot initiative`s finest tourism villages aims to recognise villages that are great examples of rural destinations and demonstrate best practises in accordance with its evaluation criteria. 

♦ It also intends to help villages increase their rural tourism potential by providing training and access to improvement possibilities.

 In the upcoming Winter Session of Parliament, the Centre intends to repeal all three farm laws enacted in 2020.

According to constitutional and legal experts, the administration will need to introduce a bill in Parliament to repeal the three agro-laws that have been the subject of farmer protests over the last year.

♦Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced in his speech to the country that the three farm laws will be repealed and that the constitutional process to do so will be finished in the Winter session of Parliament, which begins later this month.

♦According to former Union Law Secretary P K Malhotra, repealing a law is the same as passing a law under the Constitution. "To repeal the three laws, the administration will need to introduce legislation. There isn`t any other option "P D T Acharya, the former Secretary General of the Lok Sabha, remarked.

♦In response to a question, Acharya stated that the government may repeal all three laws with a single bill.

 Padma Awards 2021 Announced

 
The Ministry of Home Affairs has released a list of 119 people who would get the Padma Awards this year from President Ram Nath Kovind. 
 
Highlights
♦ Art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, and civil service are all covered by these prizes. 
♦ While the `Padma Shri` is given for distinguished service in any field, the `Padma Bhushan` is given for exceptional service.
♦ The `Padma Vibhushan`, on the other hand, is given for remarkable and distinguished service. 
♦ There are 29 women among the 2021 winners, one transgender person, ten foreigners/NRIs/OCIs, and 16 people who have died. In 2021, no one will be awarded the Bharat Ratna.
♦ Film producers Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor, actor-filmmaker Kangana Ranaut, veteran actress Sarita Joshi, playback singer Suresh Wadkar, and music composer Adnan Sami were among the 61 Padma Shri awardees for the year 2020 who received the country`s fourth-highest civilian honor at a ceremony held in the Rashtrapati Bhavan here.

World`s First Oral Pill To Treat COVID-19 Approved By Britain:

British health officials have approved the world`s first medication to treat symptomatic COVID-19.
 
Highlights:
♦ According to the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency, the antiviral molnupiravir has been found to be safe and effective in lowering the risk of hospitalisation and death in patients with mild to moderate COVID-19 who are at high risk of developing the condition (MHRA).
♦ Ridgeback Biotherapeutics and Merck worked together to develop the pill, which works by interfering with virus replication.
♦ According to the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency of the United Kingdom, this prevents it from growing, keeping viral levels low in the body and thus minimising disease severity.
♦ It is also possible to administer it outside of a hospital setting.

One Sun, One World, One Grid Initiative Launched By PM:

 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Boris Johnson jointly launched the `One Sun, One World, One Grid` (OSOWOG) initiative at the COP 26 Climate Meeting in Glasgow.
 
Highlights:
♦ The project`s goal is to build a "transnational electrical grid" that will provide solar energy to people all over the world.
♦ OSOWOG`s vision is "The Sun Never Sets." It is a constant in some geographical region of the world at any given time.
♦ This is India`s most ambitious project to date, with far-reaching economic consequences. It has been accepted as part of the World Bank`s technical assistance programme.
♦ This strategy will also make use of the International Solar Alliance (ISA).
♦ On the occasion, he also stated that India`s space agency, ISRO, will soon make available to the rest of the world a calculator that can assess any region`s solar energy potential.
♦ The `One Sun, One World, One Grid` (OSOWOG) system will be implemented to address the difficulty of solar electricity.
♦ The Earth`s atmosphere receives enough sunlight in one hour to power the electricity needs of every person on the planet for a year.
♦ In contrast, solar energy is only available during the day. Another issue is that it is extremely dependent on the weather.

International Day Of Radiology Is Observed On 8 November:

The world celebrates International Day of Radiology on November 8th each year.
 
Highlights:
♦ The aim of the day is to increase public awareness of the importance of radiology in providing safe patient care, as well as to improve public understanding of the critical role that radiologists and radiographers play in the healthcare system.
♦ Radiology is a medical specialty that uses medical imaging to diagnose and treat diseases in both humans and animals.
♦ A myriad of imaging techniques, including X-ray radiography, ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), nuclear medicine, including positron emission tomography (PET), fluoroscopy, and magnetic resonance imaging, are used to diagnose or treat diseases (MRI).
♦ Interventional radiology is the practise of performing minimally invasive medical procedures while using imaging techniques such as those listed above.
♦ This day also commemorates Wilhelm Roentgen`s discovery of x-rays in 1895.
♦ The first World Radiology Day was celebrated in 2012.

 Damon Galgut Won the Booker Prize 2021

Galgut, a South African playwright and author, has won the Booker Prize for 2021.
 
He received the award for "The Promise," his third shortlisted novel about a family in his country from the end of apartheid to Jacob Zuma`s election.
 
Mr. Galgut won his third medal as a finalist for a novel that the judges described as a "tour de force." 
 
He had previously been nominated for "The Good Doctor" in 2003 and "In a Strange Room" in 2010, but both times he was unsuccessful.

 Government Sports Awards 2020

Because the Sports Awards ceremony took place in the midst of the Covid-19 outbreak, the winners were unable to collect their trophies and citations during the 2020 event.
The Sports Ministry will present 74 National Sports Awards on August 29, 2020, including 27 Arjuna Awards and 5 Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Awards.
